A moderate racehorse, he had little success at stud other than the highly important Blacklock,
a top class stayer and continuing progenitor of the Darley Arabian sire line which led from Blacklock through Voltaire, Voltigeur, Vedette and Galopin to St Simon (although Y chromosome analysis has shown that St. Simon, in fact, descends from the Byerly Turk, not the Darley Arabian, although it is not certain at which point of the sire line that the incorrect male parentage originated)
