The GSB says his dam is Milbanke's Black Mare (by Makeless), but pedigree certificates for Creeper given by James Darcy the younger say Milbanke's Black Mare is a half sister to the Blunderbuss Royal Mare [known erroneously as Kitt Darcy's Royal Mare in GSB], not her daughter (as shown in the GSB), so Hartley's stud book pedigree for Hartley's Blind Horse, which shows his dam is a Makeless Mare out of a Blunderbuss Royal Mare, means the Makeless mare which is his dam cannot be Milbanke's Black Mare
