Pot8os got his name from a stable lad asked to put "Potatoes" on his stall door but misspelled it Potoooooooo. It amused the Earl, and so it appears in the GSB, later shortened to Pot-8-Os
A great success as a stallion, sire of 172 winners of £61,971, including Waxy (1793 Derby, continuing progenitor of Darley Arabian sire line) and 3 other classic winners
