Re: Dortmund

This horse has room to grow. I thought his race was outstanding. He'll learn a lot from it. Give him a month off....he will eventually turn into a two turn monster....

Re: Dortmund

I think Dortmund is named after the football team...

Flounder was actually Kent Dorfman. Willing to bet that name is available though...

Either way, this horse looks like the real deal.

This filly comes from a very nice, old Tartan Farms family.

Very nice tail female.

Re: Louis's Blog on Inbreeding

Richard dosent favor 150--200 mares bred to those stallions. It would be a good research project, to see if those superior runners are being bred in the 1st 50 mares to a stallion or are being bred in the latter stage of those matings. This is absolute inanity. I'm trying to even conceive of your l...

Re: Horse of The Year

TONALIST - Tapit out of a Pleasant Colony mare (PC notorious for late maturing types) - once he matured out of blinkers (first start without was his victory in the G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup he was the man - did not run a bad race in BC Classic. Should be better this year and has Jimmy Jerkens running...

Re: Horse of The Year

Kotashaan won 6 of 10 (would have been 7 of 10 had Desormoux not misjudged the finish in the Japan Cup) and set a course record. When winning the BC Turf he beat a top field. Main Sequence beat very mediocre horses by a nose in three of his four wins. Perhaps a closer comparison would be the filly ...

Re: Horse of The Year

There is historical precedent for naming Main Sequence as HOTY. I remember roughly 20 years ago, another year of weak 3yos, when voters gave the award to Kotashaan. Kotashaan's campaign was actually weaker than Main Sequence's perfect 2014. Perfect is hard to do. It should be rewarded.

Re: Louis's Blog on Inbreeding

If i were a breeder, i would not plan a mating of my mare to a stallion with 24-29 crosses of Ph. stallions. The risk for injury of a mating, is a red flag. Those NFB that have 23--29 crosses of Ph. stallions, become a high risk for unsoundness. Put your MONEY where your mouth is. I've always found...

...and most important of all - you got your picture published in TDN (along with a nice writeup).

Congratulations. I have a feeling that KEENOV 2015 may be a distant option?

Re: Oh Wow Belterra Park!!!`

I would guess that you'd try to bring him back at CD?

My sense is that the late fall meet there will offer some opportunities.
