Tod Sloan came from England specifically to ride Ballyhoo Bey in the Futurity and Flatbush.Seriously injured in the Flatbush, a roughly run affair that resulted in every jockey in the race being hauled before the stewards. Discovered to be a "roarer" in early 1901 after an episode of pneumonia. Retired May 21, 1901. Attempted comeback in early 1902, but showed no improvement in his wind.
