A Barb horse imported into Virginia from Andalusia, Spain, in 1740 by William Nelson. He was also referred to as Nelson's imported Spanish Horse and also known as Nelson's Spanker. He was described as a most beautiful horse although his colour was not specified
His daughters were noted for breeding speedy colts and fillies, especially when crossed with bred horses like Janus. He stood in Virginia at William Nelson's stud in York and James Rivers area until 1750, then went to the Roanoke Valley in North Carolina, where he made a significant contribution to the development of the quarter horse in that area
