Where does it come from?

Both of mine (out of the same mare) are wonderful jumpers, green yet but showing great promise. Their sires are both Ribot line through Graustark. The gelding from Hail Emperor, his younger sister, from Key to the Mint. I really couldn't say where their aptitude comes from but they're like a couple ...

I like her for the absence of ND & Mr. P in her family. From a purely sport horse aspect (and that I have two Ribot line horses of my own) I prefer to see Royal Charger, Turn To and Ribot, which she has in quantities. Distance, grass, late developing and jumping ability run in those lines. As a ...

A friend of mine has contacted them hoping to get her - she's waiting to hear back. The person she spoke to said there have been several calls.

I'm hoping to have a road trip to make! :)

Sorry, I didn't realize the subject would end up so small

Joe at Six - I saw him win the Virginia Gold Cup a couple of years ago and ran well in it last year. :)

Ribot - Graustark

I wrote to Darby Dan and they were kind enough to respond and sent me the stallion brochure for Graustark as well as Proud Truth.

Rancho San Antoinio's site has a good bloodlines article about "Graustark - What's Not To Like?"

DNA?

DNA samples are now collected along with bloodtyping for registration purposes.

I don't know if DNA is checked prior to breeding other than to look for homozygous/heterozygous traits among color breeders.

Breeders Cup tickets?

August 1 has finally arrived! I ordered BC 2005 tickets as a birthday present for my son and am quite anxious to see what seats we get out of the ticket lottery.

He'd better get some good pictures for his ever loving parent. :)

Jump Start

I liked Jump Start a lot better, even though he also was unsound and fractured (an ankle, I think). A friend recently saw Jump Start and liked his temperment. My mare is by a son of KTM who is out of a Minstrel mare and I understand that might go nicely with him but, financially, I think I'd better...

Bill from WA can explain better than I

The Chronicle of the Horse has had several well written articles out on the subject by authors such as Dr. Birdsall, Denny Emerson, C M Frank and Heather Bailey. :) Nearco, Nasrullah and Royal Charger - A Triptych of Three Day-Breeding can be found at http://www.icsbloodstock.co.uk/cgi-script/csArti...
