I like both mares except that they are open. I am looking for a good mare in foal with a breed back. If they are still available after this Sunday I might be interested. The Stemmans sale might have something for me there and if not then maybe we could talk.

Just got back to the forum and can't believe what I have just read. Larrygene was a very good man and passionate about his horses. He made a special trip to Louisiana to purchase a weanling from me which was Counter Punches first baby to hit the ground. He really was a classy guy and will be sadly m...

Mares

I pm you but didn't get a response. What are the mares names so that I could decide if I could help take them off your hands. I am also in Louisiana which would be great as I could pick them up verses shipping.

Thanks everyone for all the imput!! :D My journey will have to be a slow one from what I am reading.

Does anyone lease out mares for Breeder agreements? This might be a good way to get a nice mare with a foal that I could sell and still be on record as a co-breeder.

Thanks Sock Monkey; You are the first to say that it can be done. I can see that with quality mares, even with two or three, the potential is there to make good money. The feed and care bills will be the same with not so good mares but the purchasing and the stallion fee would be higher. But never t...

Good point by everyone :D Jorge; You make a real good example that I might just follow and slowly improve on my mares. When I asked if anyone can make a living by being a breeder I wasn't just talking about the breeders awards but also on the sales of the babies. I am understanding that I couldn't m...

Thanks Terri and Charlie; I to can't afford to breed to race. I want to breed to sell but one of my mares, Miss Top Nelson, isn't a commercial mare so I will try to lease the babies out or sell her in foal. I might have over stallioned her this year with Lydgate who is a $2,000 fee. My other mare is...
