I can't see this working for breeders in long time. It will only work for the company.

Pokeyman, I was about to make a comment in that same direction just before making my recommendation. I think it is a honest and very reasonable advice that you are providing. However I kept the comment to myself after obtaining a negative reaction after providing a similar comment in another thread....

It depends on the trainer or training facility you select to prepared the yearling. Most trainers charge in the range of $45-80 range. However there are some that charge even more. This rate excludes the medical bills, exams, and horseshoeing. Besides that you need to pay an entry fee for the sale, ...

I like Posse for this mare. He's doing well in the track and in the sales. Arch might be a good choice as mentioned by another member. I also looked for doubling Roberto.

I have owned horses racing, pinhooked yearlings and sold broodmare prospects. I have been studying breeding of racehorses for about 20 years. At this moment I am out because of the economic crisis. I think at this moment it is too difficult to obtain a profit.

This is a risky move, but at the same time I feel this mare deserves some consideration. I feel that a horse like Noble Causeway might fit very well with her. But as some other posters mentioned, the market is not good, as it was reflected in the drop in of the median price in these last days.

Excellent, thank you rr! The person who bought her for me felt as you do... although she was a bit small and had minor stuff on her xray, she was a nice package for the price. She will need some time, but that we have. My take is that if it's nothing serious, this was an awesome deal. Excell...

Billl, Have you always been this much of an A%S? You would probably just take her out back and put a bullet in her . Hotrod, I am providing you an opinion based on facts and clear observations. I will quit from this discussion, but keep something in your mind: This is not the best business to learn...

Granted, attempting to breed for commercialbility on this mare is nil and none.I like how most look at commercialbility when anyone on the boards asks for suggestions and then complains when some big mare goes to a top ranking commercial stallion based on...............commercialbility. This is a ma...

I think the odds are completely against you. I would sell this mare. Maintenance costs are too high for the expectations to obtain a decent foal.

What is her size? What about her conformation? Is she quite correct? She certainly won't attract on the sales, so if you decide to go forward it should be for racing. I like Notebook as a broodmare sire but from her dam side she looks quite empty.

I don't see anything from Quarry that would make me recommend him, although his record does not look that bad. Any way, this does not solve the profitability issue of breeding your mare.
