Supplements

Does anyone give their horses any supplements ie: like Gluocsamine?

And what products do you give them and how much?

Pin Firing

I am about to purchase a gelding who is off the track. I notice he has lines of scars on his cannons that the owner says are from something called pin firing. What is pin firing, what is its purpose, and how often is it performed? Is there any long-term damage as a result?

Thanks!

Try a vet cream called Hibitane. It's an anti fungal as well as an antibacterial cream I swear by this stuff.

Thanks Jimble...

Any info on him is what I was after. I do have his racing stats but it's a little confusing to look at. I like the way you summed it up for me!

I just wanted to see who owned him/ trained him etc... Basicly I want to gain a little insight into him.

Thanks again! :D

Won't stand still

I bought an OTTB that raced for 9-10 years. I have a problem...he won't doesn't stand still. He will stand to tack up and he stands no problem in the paddocks but he won't stand if I'm in the arena tighting up the girth, lower my stirrups. He trailers great but as soon as that trailer stops he needs...

I'll stick with Gulfstream thanks. The location is great, the renovations are beautiful. I'm sure that as soon as the casino is installed more and more people will go. Also its in a great neighbourhood. I won't want to see a landfill go in Hialeah. I would prefer to see the Marlin's go there instead.

It can be but usually the roads are very well plowed and salted.

There are some Thoroughbred only horse shows that have War Horse classes... the shows are mainly for OTTB's and most often held at racetracks in the off season. For my "War Horse" though, I am just happy to have a War Horse blanket for her and for us to know she is (116 starts, won her last race at...

I hope he'll be sound forever!!! I did find out this race records. He had 84 Starts  His last race was Dec 16'04 at age 11. What I can't believe is in his last year of racing'04...he started 13 times . So I guess my baby does qualify as a War Horse. Is there some club that we can sign up for?

Isn't 64 starts a little much? I don't really know too much about racing but that sounds like alot.

I don't suppose anyone knows who his trainer and owners were???

Thanks Madelyn :D I'm not too sure how to read the numbers and stuff. I think I see that he had 64 starts? Which is alot, I'm guessing. I do know that he retired in Dec'04 so that number might be higher. Also in his pedigree..he is a desentdant of Man O War and War Relic. Why do you have smiley guys...
