I am currently reading my way through a lot of cheap horseracing books -- currently reading Wink, about Jimmy Winkfield, which is a great read. Just finished The Gambler and the Bug Boy, another good story. Bedouwia http://www.edwardrhamilton.com/titles/7/0/5/7054491.html you might be interested in...

I am with Tom Fool on Hesabull. Very Impressive animal in the flesh. This horse along with some other stallions was in the numbers with the Diamond Legends Farm abuse case and he basically didnt have much progeny for a couple of years. Funontherun is the best $500 dollar investment in the state. Not...

I have no problem with state programs propping up local stallions with state monies, but breed back rules dont do that. Breed back rules prop up local stallions with my money from my checkbook. That is not fair. I wont pretend to know all the rules for each program out there, or who gets what monies...

I don't disagree with your logic and if someone has a quality mare, they should breed her to best horse in their price range. Can't do it. The programs are set in such a way that the only way to breed to a commerical stallion year after year is to move the mare to Kentucky. State-bred programs (in ...

Owning a stallion in a state bred program is like Obama's spread the wealth programs. It costs more to breed out of state and there are many more risks inherent. These are the factors that should encourage a mare owner to stay home and breed locally. Not some mandate that says if you want to run the...

Brendan, not knocking Northern Afleet as a sire. At 20K I would expect a sire to be commercial. You can bet Northern's auction prices will reflect his new 7.5K fee. At 20k I expect a potentially commercial foal. At his current fee your 2006 breeding is probably a breed to race yearling or maybe a tw...
