I didnt AI the mare, Vessels did. They stirred up their own trouble.

SInce you're from Kentucky, why don't you share about how many farms there use AI and get away with it?

no doubt the paperwork will be worked out but I think its very suspicious that a TB mare was very likely artificially inseminated. Also, In Excess sired 75 TB foals and 77 QH foals that year so you know AI was used on him. I just think the employees picked up the wrong bottle.

I think the problem is that the stud fee on First Down Dash is $50,000, but In Excess stud fee for QH mares is only $10,000 ($20,000 for TBs). So it would cost the mare owner another $30,000 to register the foal.

First Down Dash is 24 years old so they AI him almost always.

not heresay, the Jockey Club website makes it clear. Walts Wharf was the dam, the blood typing kit on the 2007 foal came back with the result that the foal was by First Down Dash, so the people cant register the foal. From what I have read, the TB mare was bred in late May, and kept separate from th...

Vessels Farm mistakenly breeds QH stallion to TB mare

Has anyone else heard about this story? Apparently a good TB mare was supposed to have been bred to In Excess, but when they did the blood typing discovered that the foal was actually sired by First Down Dash (QH). Since Vessels breeds its QH stallions by artificial insemination, how could this happ...

You said it all, tbrace. Almost all, anyway. The high potential profits in these sales drive some trainers to betray their owners' trust by arranging for hefty kickbacks. Some trainers make more through this method than by training good horses. The sales companies turn the other way because high pri...

Florida breeders will have to find another TB masquerading as a quarter horse to lead their sire's list.

Maybe Gulfstream Park should sell off 3/4 of its main track so that the Florida breds can win every 1/4 mile race on the card.

Set a high standard for your bloodstock purchases and stick to it. Most people fail in the business because they rationalize purchasing and keeping horses that should have been sold down the river years ago.

I notice that the very fastest of the one furlong works belongs to a filly named Paragon Queen. 9.7 seconds!! She broke down in her seventh start and was euthanized, much like What a Song, who worked in 20.3, and broke down after three starts and was put down. Both were bought by Robert and Beverly ...

These sales horses obviously are much better bred animals than the entire two year old population. Comparisons between those two groups are biased in favor of the former in a major way.
