I was told a couple of weeks ago that they were looking to race him at Belmont. The racing secretary had promised Joe that he would write a race for him. The issue being a race with enough distance.
I just love that ol codger!

THANk you for posting the DRF article. Both the Blood Horse and The Throughbred Times appear to have taken their story fom the Del
Mar stable notes. There was no mention of a lost shoe. Again, I do hope that the connections give Lava Man a fair chance to continue.

Lava Man

Oh...I was reading between the lines on the Blood Horse article also. My husband and I are huge fans. We have seen him every time he runs. He looked great in the paddock and seemed himself. I was nervous due to his groom is not there with him. Lava man likes everything his own way. He really was qui...

I just love that old guy. I too get a laugh each time I see him stroll from the gate. Great old war horse.
He also has his own web site, seems he still has quite a following.
I have a soft spot for the old geldings. The Tin Man,Rochester and
Perfect Drift. They dont make like that anymore.

Curlin

I voted synthetic too. I also want him to come to the breeders cup. I really want a chance to see him. Call me selfish! LOL While I still would like to see him go once more on the grass and supported the idea of the Arc, I just can't help but wish to see him in the paddock at Santa Anita. I wondered...

Del MAr 2008

It was ironic given all the expense and whoohah that the polytrack created and we had to hold our breath everytime they ran a turf race. I too hope they have give it some attention.

Prince of Wales

THis is meant as a good natured comment. I had to laugh when I saw
Prince of WHALES. You meant to write Prince Of WALES. That would be the Title of Prince Charles as Heir to the throne of England.
Thought it very cute, nothing personal intended.

I have not heard anything about the Turf. There was such an uproar about the polytrack last year, that I think that has been the focus. However, given that they have spent so much time dealing with the polytrack surface, let's hope the Turf has been undergoing maintence
as well.

Del Mar

From what I have been hearing locally, the Track crew has been working very hard to tighten up the track in the afternoons. They have made some changes in the make up of the synthetic itself and have worked with some polytrack specialist to look at moisture content and and maintenance to try and mak...

TO vindicated: AMEN! Curlin did fine on the grass. He did not embarass himself in the least. Turf racing is different from dirt as was stated in earlier post here. I applaud his connections for trying him on the grass. He deserves to run in the ARC. CURLIN reminds me of the good old days of racing. ...

Curlin the great

I am also excited about seeing Curlin tomorrow. He just looked amazing forthe Stephen Foster. Just muscle on muscle. I was amused about some of the nonsense that I have seen with regard to Curlin's move to grass. Please! Who could ever doubt Curlin after the mud at Monmouth. You have made some very ...

Yes, I would have to agree with you. The Derby bound 3 year olds will be at a disadvantage in California. It is an interesting
situation all around.
