My first horse was allergic to grass. This was about 20 years ago, when allergy shots either weren't around or weren't widely used, or maybe they wouldn't have worked for her. There are tons of allergies, all a little different. She had grass heaves, so even one bite of grass would leave her coughin...

I'm in LA. Don't tell AC, because my horses only eat 2x a day! In fact, I can't think of more than about 2 barns who do feed more than 2x a day, and it's usually just for certain horses with special dietary issues. Are these horses being fed 1 flake of hay in the morning? Are they in stalls all day ...

Anyone interested in bringing CANTER to LA?

We are in the beginning stages of putting together a CANTER program in Louisiana, so I thought I'd post here in case there are any locals and/or trainers in the area that might want to get involved. So far, there are 6 of us planning on getting together on March 4, in the Gonzales area (south of Bat...

I just bought a CANTER CA horse last month, and while I paid way more than I normally would for an OTTB with very little training, I bought her as an investment horse and expect to make a tidy little profit. I still feel like I got a good deal. I also paid less than she was listed as. I was put off ...

I thnk after Dolly more care was taken about the telomeres. However the other concern is the mtDNA. Did they select a egg from the same mtDNA family that the original Gem Twist came from? Or did they use a egg from the host mare? You might as well be speaking chinese to me. If I hadn't seen the wor...

It will be interesting to see what the WB associations do with him. Does he get automatic approval because he (in previous form) full filled the performance requirements. That's an interesting thought. ---------------------- So a clone doesn't look or act like the original, right? So is it possible...

He was registered as Icey Twist with The Jockey Club The Jockey Club won't be calling this horse anything at all. I believe that was the registered name of the original Gem Twist. I wonder how old GT was when they took DNA from him. Say he was 25. Would that mean that the clone is essentially 25 ye...

I just put my horses back on BOSS, and within about a week and a half, they're already shiny. No messy or unpalatable oil to deal with, and my horses loooooove the way they taste. So much easier than oil. Just throw a couple handfuls of sunflower seeds in with their feed, and they gobble it up! I do...

Corona is awesome for growing hair back, too. It's gooey but it works.

I've heard people say that the goldfish made it just as messy, but we always have had fish in our tanks, and I find it works well. The only problem I have is the collection of cats sitting on the edge of the tank. Or the one horse who actually notices the fish and wants to go fishing.
