Digging around in Google I found nothing that would suggest he himself was oversized - but some of his progeny was 17h+. This link gives some more details of Turn To (he was called Source Royal before his name was changed to Turn To). (sorry link not working but it's mentioned in a book named 'Desig...

Thanks for the info. :) Kris S ( Roberto) is quite big as well. There seems to be a few 'tall' genes in there somewhere. Looking at the pictures on the pedigree charts it seems Pharos was quite tall but his next few sons were quite 'normal' sized. Then we get to HTR and he seems to be passing his ta...

Hail To Reason size
Just wondering....Hail To Reason was himself a quite a big guy himself and I've heard that he typically adds size and bone to the offspring. His sire Turn-To didnt have the best conformation (toed-out) which he passes on. Should inbreeding to these guys be avoided for the larger sized mares to minim...

Thanks !
He certainly looks great. Hypo foal seems interesting
HYPO FOAL
TrueNick Rating is a B (with approval X Northern Dancer cross)
Closest relative would be Thesaurus (G3).

With Approval
I'm considering sending my mare to With Approval in the coming year and wondered what the general opinion is of him as a sire. Looking at some of the earlier posts it seems that he does produces nice looking foals.

I've found a couple of snippets of info which offer some guidance based on history; (from Racehorse Breeding Theories by Frank Mitchell, PhD.. p209 ) Dosage figures for North American Open stakes races between 1983-2001. For distance 8-10F Sample size 11706. Average values DP 7.63 - 4.72-10.09-1.70-...

The aim is to produce a miler that can win in good company:) The slant towards the speed side looks great and the conduit mare's profile seems to indicate the stamina. Perhaps a better distribution across profile (something like 3,6,6,6,2) would be better? Lots of if's and buts going on in my head.....

breed averages
Sorry to bring this one up again... In Joe Este's Average Earning Index (AEI) they use a ' breed average ' figure. Where does one get this figure? ( total earnings by all racehorses for the year divided by the number of starts in that year). I'm wondering whether bloodhorse.com or other organ...
