If you plan on selling privately, it really helps to know some bloodstock agents or so forth to spread the word. I'm not sure how effective an ad in a magazine is. Its not a good photo to judge by. He's not really standing square it looks. Its looks as though he has a fair amount of bone to him, his pasterns aren't too long. I would breed a mare to him. The reason he retired had nothing to do with soundness issues caused from racing, breathing issues, or mental(that was a funny one).
