Oh I was hoping for just one more foal, but since there wasn't one this year I kind've suspected Toussaud's broodmare days were over in 2006. She always had founder issues and had rubber mats in her stall to stand on. She's just one of my favorite mares and I hope she can now enjoy a wonderful retir...

Only an insurance company would require an autopsy. ?
It's certainly evident what caused his demise. I hope he was cremated whole and his heart was left intact like Secretariat's in 1989.

Well, something just did not look right to me when Barbaro was being led back to the gate to reload and I mentioned it to my husband at the time. Wish I had slow motion pictures of his walk...I will never know. But I'll bet Barbaro knew. I really appreciated all the updates that TimWoolley gave on h...

It was on the site yesterday afternoon. There are literally thousands of posts on the site. I should've taken down all the info plus the time stamp. Really upsetting.

RIP and run free beautiful Barbaro!

I just added a nasty comment to this dummy's blogsite. I've never done anything that before and now I feel sooo much better! Remember Madame DeFarge (A Tale of Two Cities, Dickens) ? That's one's from moi!

Yesterday I was reading the many tributes on the Tim Woolley Racing site and there was an afternoon posting by a woman named Linda. She said she had inside information that the public wasn't aware of regarding the miss-start out of the gate and then the reloading of barbaro into the gate for the rac...

Serenarider - Thanks for posting the article, as I hadn't seen it. It does parallel my feelings on several key points.

BTW, does anyone know what's wrong with Man in Havana and how he got hurt?

It's so sad to see this decay of Hialeah. I've heard that Pimlico is also decaying, albeit under a new splash of paint put on each year prior to the running of the Preakness...wish people cared more about historical places and preserving them!

Barbaro looked absolutely magnificent when he stepped off the van in his arrival at Pimlico for the Preakness. He was well-trained, so solid looking and well conditioned, a happy young horse...and then everything went to hell in a handbasket at the starting gate. From the films I've seen, I believe ...

Pine Island was actually shot with a gun instead of using drugs??? I hope she at least got to be buried whole either at Churchill Downs or Claiborne Farm.

You would think that with the huge supplemental entry fees that the BC takes in, they could at least have enough emergency equipment ready.
Rest in peace, beautiful Pine Island. You gave your all and deserved much better than you got in your tragic end.
