Yes, Zinn I do cull. But, I was REALLY on the fence with this filly. I have always felt she was talented; she's a 1/2 to stakes horse; and has a great family. But, culls can be for a lot of different reasons...mare throws sprinters regardless of who she is bred too and you are trying to breed 2 turn...

4 Year old race/Broodmare prospect-1/2 to Stakes Horse
I am looking for a great home for my 4 year old filly, Catalina Lady (Tomorrows Cat x Emeralino). She is a 1/2 to a stakes horse and has black type every single generation of her pedigree for 6+ generations. She is tail female to the great mare, Bold Irish. She has had some bad racing luck. She was ...

Wow! Just finding out about all the talk on here now.... I expressed my opinion having been around a lot of tracks. I have found that nose chains are the most common for fillies. I shared my experience so nobody gets hurt. I know that there are a lot of first time OTTB looking to adopt due to the in...

To Skipitgirl- Then I'd get a new trainer/groom....if one of my racehorses was ever mouth chained just for the hell of hell than they wouldn't have my horse for long. I have raced at Saratoga, Belmont, Aqueduct, Monmouth, Churchill, Tampa, Penn, Suffolk, and Philly and not once have I ever had a hor...

I doubt this horse is the "sweetheart" that they say. The only time a horse needs a chain through their mouth is if they are vicious, studdy, crazy, or as hot as hell. I have never had a racehorse that needed a chain in their mouth....espcially a filly. That's out of 6 racehorses we have owned and r...

I'm glad you placed her successfully, Hops. For those who continue to argue that the filly should have been given a chance on the track, well...she was available. Like so many things that are proposed on the internet: it's a good idea if you can get somebody else to do it. If I wasn't on the opposi...

Awesome, she's so prettybut had nobody stepped up it would have been the responsible thing to do to put her down rather than risk her going to a bad place. Agree in a lot of circumstances but not this one..... Find a picture of Well Armed. He toes in even worse and is a grade 1 winner. I would give...

We have them and live in New England and they have never frozen up and it gets cold here. We LOVE them and have had them almost 10 years!! The only maintenance we have done is to replace filters (our problem from digging new well). But, THE largest cost is in setting them up correctly. You have to d...

You can add a long list of stallions without world class (meaning way above average with stats close to their own) replacements.....Dyanformer, Rahy, Broad Brush, Cozzene, etc...... :( So, in other words, Theatrical, joins a very, very high quality group of sires. But, most lines are passed on via o...

Pattern for jockey silks
Anyone have a pattern for sewing your own jockey silks? My mother wants to try to make our silks but she can't find a pattern. Of course, our silks are in NY and KY so we can't show her. She just needs basic measurements on length, width, sleeve length, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!...
