Re: Keeneland

Madelyn - I always appreciate your thoughts on mating, so I am wondering what you would do with the mare I bought out of this sale, which was #3226. She's a 3/4 sister to Battaash (the true 'fastest horse in the world', contrary to what Elliot Walden says about Cogburn.) Her female family has done b...

Re: Keeneland

Very much so, but if one was patient there were deals to be had. I am just thankful that I was able to walk away with my top pick of the broodmares at a price well-below what I thought she was worth.

Re: City Zip mare

Hi Sulphurfire - I apologize for the delayed response. I really, really liked the War Front colt she foaled this past February, so I went ahead and bred her back to him. The old man won't be around for too much longer, and since I breed to race and am hoping to get a filly by him out of her, I figur...

Re: City Zip mare

Thank you for the suggestion, Madelyn.

I am open on the stud fee range, just as long as it is a good match for her.

City Zip mare

Not sure anyone still looks at this forum since it appears as if there hasn't been much activity for awhile, but I thought I would try to get some advice. I have a City Zip mare (o/o of Court Appeal by Candy Ride) named Elle Z who is a multiple stakes winner going 5.5f on both turf and dirt and I am...

And it appears as if Boogers' website has been debunked as well.

The Factor foals

One of my mares recently foaled a filly by The Factor and I was shocked by the amount of leg on her. Are any of you noticing the same with any other of his foals?

Very intriguing – Especially for those breeders with Danzig or Storm Cat line mares.

Actually, yesterday's race was her first out in six months. Additionally, I agree she shouldn't run if not fit. My problem is with Jess Jackson, his hyperbole, and his inability to shut up and let these two mares do the talking. Personally, I think Zenyatta is the better of the two and, as with poli...

A race is worth at least five works. If fitness is really the issue, why not wait until after her next work to assess her fitness for a race that is 26 days away? Mark my words, the big mare's connections can chase the Jess Jackson entourage to every jurisdiction and they won't be able to face her. ...

Per the DRF, that assessment was apparently echoed by Asmussen, who blamed himself for Rachel Alexandra's defeat. "The filly's lacking fitness," he said. "It was my job to have her there, and I didn't do it." Interesting how EPO testing has been expanded within horse racing since the Fall of ...

Jess Jackson is ducking the big mare

One day after finishing second in her seasonal return in the New Orleans Ladies S. at the Fair Grounds, Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d'Oro) was officially confirmed out of the Apr. 9 GI Apple Blossom H. Owner Jess Jackson confirmed Sunday that, although the defending Horse of the Year exited the race ...
