I only have a tatoo #
I will be picking up my new mare this weekend, from a rescue in TX. I would like to find out her history, but only have her tatoo number. Is there a data base somewhere that I can search to find out more about my beautiful girl??
Thank you for any help.

Thank you both. I spoke with her this morning, and she thinks the mare may still be about a week out. She's very concerned because she has no bag. She knows the mare was pastured on fescue (until arriving at her barn), and wants to have the colostrum on hand (there's no place locally to get it). She...

Wry nose
Kami, how is she doing?? This is exactly what happened to my little filly (out of a TB) - although much more severe. I was told it was either genetic, or caused by my mare receiving her WN vaccine during her pregnancy. You've answered some "possibilities" for me....thank you. This same mare is due a...

I just had this happen last Thursday
My QH mare was supposed to be pregnant (due March 9th). She sure looks pregnant....nice plump belly (my husband has come up with some new nicknames for her  ). When palpation came up with nothing, Vet did an u/s to confirm it. Thinking back....there was a time this past Fall, that she was acti...

EPM - case here in NE KY
I don't have much to contribute to this board....thought I'd post about this, and ask for some opinions/help. Last night at a training barn, one of the (newly gelded) saddle horses was diagnosed with EPM. The trainers (having worked on TB farms in MI) suspected it, and the vet "confirmed" it - tests...

Stallion Comparison - Storm Boot and Tiznow
Good Morning everyone, I was over in the buying/selling section. There's a post about a stallion season auction, and followed the link. A couple of you recommended I try to get my mare to either Storm Boot or Tiznow. I think this might be a great opportunity, as both are on the list. My question is:...

Let me start by saying THANK YOU (again) for all your wonderful advice. My daughter has been riding since she's been able to keep her balance. She started out bareback, with just a halter and leadrope, and has been working her way up in skills ever since....much to the dismay of my husband's quickly...

Rehabilitating from the track
Good morning everyone! My daughter has shown a lot of interest in dressage. A friend pointed me in the direction of track rescues. I have a few really basic questions: How long does this transition take, or are they just too hot to handle?? I know there are exceptions, but I'm looking for a very gen...

THANK YOU!!
Originally, we thought the weight loss was because her belly dropped (she really thins out). She gets wormed every six weeks - without exception! We have other animals (sheep and llamas), and everybody gets done at the same time. I'll definitely have the vet come out. Since she's already being suppl...

Mare dropping weight
I need some help. My mare is dropping weight. I've had her teeth done, and now need to get that weight back on her. She's due to foal in March. I'm walking that fine line....too much, will make the foal grow too big....not enough, will cause her to wither away (and be detrimental to the foal). I'm w...

WOW!!!
Thank you all so much!! I have a very limited history on her. She was aquired by a QH breeder in WI/MN. I'm not sure how/why, or how long she owned her before I got her. She's been primarily a broodmare, with occasional trail rides, to further this breeder's Western Pleasure/Rodeo goals. This breede...

PLEASE excuse my ignorance!!!
Thank you for the information Bill. :) I'm not quite sure I understand what it all means, but am happy to have her record. A couple names were pointed out: His Majesty and Swaps. These both being on her sire's side. Does this mean anything, or is only the dam's side looked at??? Since being told to ...
