Nah ; can't shut the whole barn down. The legal ramifications just make my mind explode. Sure they can. They did it with Biancone; they also did it with Greg Martin's horses during the A One Rocket affair (the milkshaked horse owned by IEAH). In fact, in NY, on the NYRA stall application, the train...

Montbrook
Why has he gone so cold? He only serviced about 100 mares (combined) in 2006 and 2007, and his stud fee was dropped to $10,000. I always viewed him as a pretty solid sire (probably tops in Florida), but for some reason, the bloom is off the rose.

Best of luck with the the group, especially the More Than Ready. I remember her from the NY-bred sale in Saratoga last summer. I thought she was the nicest horse in the sale (but too expensive for my budget). It'll be very interesting how the market responds to your (saner) way of getting these hors...

Actually what I'm finding to be politically incorrect on these forums is the notion that someone putting up their money can make the decision whether or not to breed a mare without a lecture about unwanted horses, fuglies and everything else. There's some truth to that and yes I go to sales and won...

From a racing perspective, there is no shortage of horses today, just a shortage of good ones. This appears to be a politically incorrect suggestion on this thread, but there ARE mares that should not be bred - and we all know it. Where do you draw the line, there's the problem. To use the non-winni...

also, IMHO starting a first timer out at maiden 50k is a cop out. it's a sign of indeciveness... No, it's called taking an edge. He bought this filly (by Double Honor, a useful FL stallion but not much more) for $20,000, and ran her for $50,000. Let's not forget that she was 13-1 first time out and...

For the past few years, the VLT delays had nothing to do with NYRA. First, it was Pataki's fault. Even though everything was in place for the Division of Lottery to go ahead with the VLTs at Aqueduct in 2005-06 (after NYRA got a "clean bill of health" on the deferred prosecution of the trumped-up is...

For all practical purposes, that group does not exist anymore. The horsemen withdrew their support for Empire this past summer (and even that support was the result of a backroom NYTHA Board vote in which self-conflicted guys like Bomze and Finley used their positions on the NYTHA Board for their ow...
