This guy was my Derby horse going back to his debut, but he was really awful in the FOY. Even if he improves, the race doesn't set up for him - he can't rate and there appears to be some speed in the race.

There are lots of reasons to love this selection. No one loves Indy more than I do, but he's aging and is coming off a mediocre year, as aging stallions are won't to do. Bernardini was a tremendous runner. He's a beautiful speciman and he's passing on speed and quality to his offspring. Clearly the ...

Just because she's made all her career starts on poly does not mean by any means that she won't handle dirt. She's got a dirt pedigree - SB's top half is particularly strong (forget Tapit for a second, you've got Pulpit, Indy, Slew, etc.......plus Unbridled). BDW, I disagree with you there, but I ce...

I like that he also can get a turf runner. Poor Laragh just wanted to go go go and that cost her, but she's a big, talented filly and she's got a very bright future. I like another filly of Tapit's as well, War Echo. She finished 4th in the Frizette, but I thought she ran well considering the fact t...

Both of Tapit's fillys won today in the breeder cups races. He's a good stallion to breed to on the way up. Laragh actually finished 3rd, but she ran very well - tired, but that's understandable with those fractions and having raced just 2 weeks ago. Excellent day for Tapit - he's taken a commandin...

I think Tapit's success can be attributed much more to his female family than his sire line. He comes from the sire making family of Relaunch, Glitterman, and Rubiano. The issue with him is going to be that he's already inbred to Mr. Prospector and Nijinsky, and to In Reality on the dam side, so he...

Tapit

Hi all - I haven't posted in awhile, but I was hoping to get your opinion about a subject near and dear to my heart, lol. Is anyone surprised by Tapit's early success? I am a huge AP Indy fan and Pulpit, IMO, was his most talented horse (even more so than Mineshaft, who I adored - though possibly on...

Not on any of the boards I frequent........

Not that it matters- I'm a huge fan and even I was disappointed by his win. Oh well........maybe he'll run better next time.

i like his pedigree alot. In going with my cool coal man is the most overrated horse in america, i'm with you on this one. How was this horse overrated........nevermind the most overrated horse in America? He's hardly been mentioned since his debacle in the KY Jockey Club. I figure any new maiden 3...

I love this horse, but it's really not what I was looking for. I am glad the colt rated, but he had to be smacked around to get by the 2nd place finisher and the time was slow - not to mention they finished like snails (14 seconds). I hope Nick doesn't put CCM on the Derby Trail - right now he's not...

I think Malibu Moon might have been his most talented son. It's hard to say. Anyway, what kinds of mares did Sky Mesa get at 3C in his first season? Were they speedy type mares, or were they more distance laden, mile+ types? I'm looking at some of the pricier onces in his first crop and they were o...

Sky Mesa comes from a much better family than Corinthian. I have not given up on Sky Mesa yet. I can't, I have 2 mares in foal to him. I still think his runners could blossom next year. It took Empire Maker some time as well. Bullseye! AP Indy won a stake as a two year old, but nobody pushes his of...

I adore Corinthian and think he's a top, top sire prospect, but.......Sky Mesa (to my utter shock, really) has been a disaster. Does that worry you about Corinthian? Sky Mesa was Pulpit's first top son to go to stud......... I do like Purge, but of course he doesn't have runners yet. Corinthian was...

Rok, I like Corinthian as well. The one thing more I could ask is he not be a head case. I think Team Jerkens did a great job of straightening out that problem with him. In both the Met Mile and BC Dirt Mile, he was hardly the same horse that he was as a three year old. Beside, why is that a concer...

Gulch was a tremendous horse - I loved him so much. He ran his heart out every time, even in races where he was distance-challenged. I had been so excited about Mineshaft this year that I had forgotten about Nayef, but he was a very, very good horse and he's gotten off to a terrific start. I'm absol...
