Housing in the Louisville area for the most part is approximately one-half the cost in New Jersey. A 200,000 dollar price tag will get you a nice home in Louisville and an outhouse in New Jersey. The quality of life in Kentucky is 10 fold over New Jersey and the climate is also very very good. Goggl...

I think you have a good legal case against the vet with one caveat. You will have to get a couple of vets to testify against the one that missed on the diagnosis. It has been my experience that medical doctors and vets as well will not testify against their fellow professionals. I would talk with a ...

I agree with Mood Swings, it is difficult to get the needed antibiotic to the site of the infection in bone infections. A long term treatment with the appropriate antibiotic may do the trick ( 30 days consecutive).

Goshen is quite expensive. If you go out past La Grange toward Pendleton the prices drop dramatically. Google Semonin realtors Louisville Kentucky and click on map search and you will get a good picture of the real estate prices in Louisville and surrounding areas. Great quality of life, good climat...

The thoroughbred industry has never marketed its product with any real vigor. The horseplayers were and remain second class citizens in the view of the horse tracks. With casino gambling now in several states the race tracks view the horseplayers as a necessary evil since the real revenue is in the ...

The abyss is upon us

It is really pathetic how the thoroughbred has digressed over the years. This crop of three year olds may be the worst in racing history. They ran the final half mile in 51.8 seconds. I can almost walk that fast. Pathetic.

In my opinion the steroids are not the culprit neither is the distance of the race. I will guess intermittant displacement of the soft palate. How many of us have had 3-5 shots run a poor race without any explanation? Say what you will but Dutrow is a good horseman and the Belmont results doesn't ch...

I don't think you are benefiting the horse if you continually run them over their head. After a while they will get depressed and may become unhappy. I abhor running a horse at a level where they can't compete, its not fair to the horse. I knew of a farm in Maryland that raised and raced homebreds. ...

Amen.......... I agree with most everything you stated. Another factor on breakdowns is the jockey weight. Years ago it was less than it is today for the everyday race. The Vets are getting rich while destroying our horses. Disgusting.....................

Both BDW and Sam can be abrasive at times but both bring something to the table that is important to me and that is diversity of opinion. Hopefully both will keep posting on this board. They are both assets.

It usually take about 4-5 months after breaking to get them ready for their first race. That's assuming no bucked shins or other physical problems you may encounter. Depending upon the bloodlines some horses you can start early and with some you will have to wait for them to mature either physically...
