Dearest FOS, why do you even bother signing off with "respectfully"? Your posts prove that you have no respect for Smarty Jones or Three Chimneys Farm or even their clientele. Fact is, Smarty stood to full books his first 3 years at stud - that's in the Report of mares bred on the JC site. I asked m...

I was actually talking about the article on the thoroughbred review website. They have a link to it in their article archives but nothing comes up when you hit on the link.

Does anyone know what happened to the previous article on this website that was listing stallions believed to have fertility issues?

Interesting development - the article on stallion infertility has disappeared from the ATR website.

I hope the owner of ATR – whoever that may be – realizes that his reputation is now shot as an agent in Kentucky. No stud farm wants to do business with someone who consistently bad-mouths their stallions and every major farm in Kentucky is aware of his website because he’s so frequently said someth...

All 7 of his stakes winners in 2009 were either bred at $75,000 or $60,000 stud fee.

I guess it depends on what you consider a bust. War Chant is 6% SW from foals of racing age. Hard to call him a bust with what he puts on the racetrack. But if your only measure of success is having a high priced stud fee then I guess you have an arguement.

No question that SJ has gotten off to a pretty slow start but everyone should have learned from Sky Mesa's first crop that it is premature to jump off a stallion after he has only had one full crop to run. FOS I think it is pretty unfair to single out Three Chimneys when discussing stallions that ha...

Spend a Buck was very fast but he also raced on a lot of medications. That's one reason why he didn't pursue NY racing, particularly the Belmont Stakes - in those days NY didn't allow race day meds. Spend A Buck was a bleeder and a bute horse, too if I recall. But he was blindingly fast under the in...

I think he is a really nice breed to race option and priced appropriately. He is 6% stakes winners from foals of racing age which is a pretty nice number and he has already sired 3 stakes winners this year including one on the dirt.

I see any form of "pay out of proceeds" as an absolute gift from the stud farm. I write no check until after the foal is sold. I'm amazed that the farms even offer this bonanza, and I don't blame them in the slightest for charging interest on money they won't see for years. If you sign a contract in...

Thanks for the psychic reading on Smarty's stud career. That was helpful (where's that sarcastic emoticon when you need one?). Anyone who writes off a stallion after his first 2yos race is extremely short sighted. I've heard a lot of experienced horsemen comment that they didn't expect Smarty to be ...

Well knowing Mrs. Chapman, I don't think she will ever entertain the idea of moving him. I think she is committed to keeping him in Kentucky for the long haul. He only needs one big horse and her and Mr. Clay own one in partnership that John Servis has said is the best horse in his barn.

I serious doubt if Smarty would be going anywhere I doubt Mrs. Chapman would allow it. While he has gotten out of the gates a bit slow, TCF knows better than anyone how quickly things can change. People would have placed Sky Mesa on this list last year and now you can't get to him unless you were Ze...
