Re: Horses and Names

How many breeders put K at the end of their Popeye K foals? It's the same thing. It's actually pretty far from the same thing. The K at the end of Popeye's name stands for HIS breeder Peter Karneef, any offspring of Popeye's that have the K in their name, unless bred by Peter are not showing "respe...

That whole ad just doesn't make sense. That is Yellow Creek at the Royal Winter Fair a number of years ago - I think 2001. Yellow Creek actually has a decent performance record, he evented up to Prelim and there is no mention of that at all. I'm going to guess it's some type of scam by someone who h...

The story surrounding Moifaa is a myth, it didn't actually happen. He sailed into the UK safely in 1901 and won the National in 1904. Kiora was on the SS Thermopylae, which sank in 1901 and then ran in the National in 2004. Somewhere along the lines the two stories have crossed over and it has been ...

Galileo - Colic

I just heard that Galileo underwent colic surgery last night. Fingers crossed that he recovers well and quickly. I was a huge fan of his as a racehorse and am enjoying seeing his offspring succeed as well.

And of course there is Duke of Marmalade who has won 5 G1's from 5 starts so far this year - one in France, one in Ireland and three in England. In 2007 Dylan Thomas raced 10 times as a 4 year old and 9 of those starts were G1's. He won 4 of those G1's including the Arc, the King George and the Iris...

Giant's Causeway made his first start in July of his two year old year, ran 3 times that year winning a G1 and a G2 as well as his maiden.

As a three year old he made 9 starts, all G1. He won five of them and was 2nd in the other 4.

I'd actually like Curlin in the Breeders Cup Turf, but he would finish well down the field in the Arc, and I don't like to see a really good horse made to look common. Red Rocks and Better Talk now are both good turf horses in the US, but Red Rocks isn't remotely top class in Europe. The last time h...

I would doubt that she will be visiting Galileo, she is out of a Sadler's Wells mare. More likely that she will head to the States and have a date with Giant's Causeway or even Fu Peg.

That's fantastic news - I saw many of his races in person, including his first ever start at Sandown, his Sussex Stakes (G1) at Goodwood, and his Juddmonte Lockinge (G1) at Newbury.

He's actually quite a character in person, he likes to have his tongue played with! :D

Windfields closing effectvie November 1st

Subject title says it all I guess. After November 1st there will just be about 20 family owned horses there - all outside horses and stallions will be gone. It was to be expected, but it's going to be sad to drive past and watch it get turned into a subdivision. :(
