Chances are the blood you are finding on your mare is caused by small blood vessels bursting just inside her vagina. It happens often in older mares and is inconsequential.

Mass Media does cross well with distance/grass pedigrees. ie: how well he works with Kris S. line mares. That cross has produced multiple stake winners Manicero and Beso Grande!

In the past few years, I've had the pleasure of preparing some very nice horses for the races including, You, Bsharpsonata, Crown of Thorns and Behindatthebar. They all separated themselves from the crowd immediately by the way they moved. The way a horse uses himself is the greatest indicator of at...

My first job on a horse farm/training Center was in 1973. Equipoise and Deca Duraborum were used at that time.

The proof's in the pudding. If a horse was not a good racehorse, the chances are overwhelming that he will not be a good sire, regardless of who his brother is. A friend of mine told me once, "I got a brother who is an electrician and I can't change a light bulb."

St. Louis kid wrote: (Although I can not prove it, there is no doubt in my mind that many of the top Kentucky farms have gotten together and agreed that they have to hold the line on stud fees to keep their profits coming in. There is much less negotiating on fees this year than I can ever remember,...

Apparently the only farmers in the world who wouldn't plant a crop which takes 2 and a half years to mature and harvest because of current economic conditions are horse farmers! Nothing is more unproductive than a barren broodmare!

Broodmares are one thing, but stallions that couldn't run (or ddn"t) are extreme long shots to make decent sires. For example, there were 6 stallions out in the top 100 Sires List in 2008 that did not win a stake as a racehorse. That suggests that you have a 6% chance of getting a top 100 sire when ...

Only one stallion (Not for Love)among the top 20 on the list in 2008 was not a stake winner. None among the top 50 stallions in the country ran and never won. At the end of the day, talent is the great indicator of a stallion prospects potential and talent is not defined by an 1/8 of a mile in Febru...

There is a name for stallions that couldn't run. They are called teasers.
