It's also funny when the track announcer just gets the name ENTIRELY wrong. Last year I had a horse running at Oaklawn Park. In the race with him was a horse named Bishop's Creek. The entire race the announcer called him King's Bishop. My horse won that race and I was so proud to have beaten a wonderful horse like King's Bishop though it is pretty easy to beat a horse that has been dead for years I guess.
We had a horse named Ludovicus at the farm. The owner/trainer called him Loo-do-vie-cus and thats what the track announcer at TDN and the Mountain called him. About a year ago I watched some of his early races at Belmont and the track announcer there called him Loo-dove-i-cus. I still dont know how his name is supposed to be pronounced.
Outside of racing, I ride hunters. One of the little girls in our barn has a pony named Rollingwood's Unequaled. All last weekend at an "A" rated show the announcer called the pony Rollingwood's Unqualified.....poor pony!!

I wouldn't even try either because Daaher is pronounced "Vhar" (duh????) and when I bred Allou to them I asked how they were pronouncing his name and they said is like it is spelled - said it was too confusing for people to pronounce it like is should be

Anyway in the 90's there was a filly running in Canada named Wooloomooloo and after cringeing numerous times listening to Dan Loiselle destroy the name in a race I finally called him. "Hey Dan,it's a bayside suburb of Sydney Australia and this is how they say it". It never made any difference!
LOL! Years ago, our homebred was ready to hit the track, but knowing how they butchered our own name when calling out the owners name, we went to Dan Loiselle and got him say the name CORRECTLY a dozen times, giving him the story behind the name, etc. Then, we did it over again three times with TV crew at the time (Jim Bannon, the young kid who bacame an agent a while later.... can't remember his name?) Thankfully, he turned out to be a vey decent horse and they all just LOVED saying his mane all the time!!!

I am possibly the worst offender. I have a favorite bartender at the keeneland sales who swats me with a catalog when I butcher petitionsville or speetstown. My favorite mispronunciation was at thistledown where my friend and I were discussing the attributes of a young jockey named Desmoreau when we were told we would not be allowed in the jockey club with the big boys if we could not pronounce the jockeys names, it's DESORRRRRRMO!!!!!
If I could be anywhere at any time it would be Keeneland in the spring.
