What a shame. Wish I could afford to take one with a foal, but I can't.

Hi Madelyn,

I'm not 100% sure but I think the papa *may* be Trick Me. Again, don't quote me on that but I know that is the stallions name associated with the situation. According to the info- he needs to move off the farm/relocate, thus the reason for needing to disperse some.

http://www.pedigreequery.com/trick+me

Also- I was given info by a rescue person that visited the farm yesterday that all the horses were plump and in good condition, slick and shiney, save the feet of some that need some trimming. Beautiful babies too. :)

Wow, nice mares. What happened with them, were they all shipped? I sincerely hope not, and that they found homes. It is too bad they are so far away.

There were a few that left (way I understand it anyhow) and still some with the owner, however- things got crazy with some other rescue people (another org. in close vicinity to the farm) who felt law enforcement and SPCA needed to go to the owners place, why- I don't know. Seems there quite a bit of crap being said back/forth, he said/she said stuff with the property owner, yadda, yadda....

I've been told by another rescue colleague (Colleen from Equine Rescue Resource) that was on the property day before yesterday that the horses looked good, were in good weight. One of Colleens volunteers (thanks to the volunteer) was there yesterday and witnessed the same- grain, hay and the horses in good condition. For right now it's all at a standstill. Personally, I am saddened that it took the turn of events it has, there were plenty of good hearted people offering help and homes.

I am hoping that the situation can be sorted out and help can be given to the owner once again for his horses. What a shame.

Sidenote: The above is an expression of my opinion on the situation. Others may agree or disagree, for what it's worth. :-)

It sounds very muddled that's for sure. I would take two of those mares and their foals in a heartbeat, however, I'm on the opposite coast--dang it! Best of luck with this situation, and please keep us posted. It would be a damn shame if they were sent to slaughter.

Jellac-

My thanks to you for digging up the info on some of their pedigrees/backgrounds. That was *so* nice of you to do and I want you to know that I appreciate it, for the horses. :D

Here is the contact info for the owner:
======================
From the crosspost-
If you can make a solid commitment and offer a real home, please call him ASAP. Donald Jones 845-591-7697. Horses are in Westtown, Orange County, NY. No frivolous calls please, do not harass him. He's trying to do the right thing, he wants homes for his horses and does not need hassling, he needs help, for the horses.

======================
The owner is interested in race homes for some of his yearlings and although they're priced at 1500 each- he would be negotiable to a race home. Best thing would be to contact the owner directly if there is any interest in any of the horses that way there's no mis-communication. Thanks!
