"The American Graded Stakes Committee said Aug. 10 it will employ a pilot program that will ban race-day medications—primarily the anti-bleeding drug Salix—in graded 2-year-old stakes in 2012."
I will boycott any 2yo SALE in 2012 that does not include mandatory scoping by an independent vet immediately after the sale work.

Stupid idea.
And who doesn't scope a sale horse?
And who doesn't scope a sale horse?

I am dead set against the ban but what you said doesn't make any sense. For starters, it takes at least half an hour for the blood to be visible via scope so if you scoped immediately you wouldn't see anything. Secondly, horses don't bleed going an 1/8th of a mile. Thirdly, you can give lasix for a pre-sale work if you want. Lastly, you don't need to mandate scoping, you can do it yourself with your own vet. Presumably you trust your own vet or he wouldn't be your vet.
The most cases of bleeding through their nostrils are when horses become older.
A two year old bleeding through the nostrills is a rare cause.
Do not know how to write it in better english.
As an side effect, other medications will show up in testing more often.

ANY DIURATIC is forbidden for humans and so it is in the whole world too for racehorses except in the USA

Perhaps my intent was stated but the timing wasn't clear. But, if a horse worked for the sale on Lasix it will need to be noted. A lot of buyers are not able to show up for the work...only the sale itself. By then, the scoping is not going to reveal the depth of the issue (scale of 1 to 5) as the sale often follows the work by 4 or 5 days.
I will go to a sale and inspect lots of horses, but only scope 10-15. That scoping is going to reveal abnormalities, but 4 or 5 days later won't reveal the depth of the problem.
And yes, sales works do cause bleeding.
