I didn't vote for a boutique meet, and I don't recall a vote for one by anybody else in the TTHBPA. But if Terry remembers one, so what? Maybe I missed something. Terry is honest and a good man, and if he was not quoted out of context, then I will not dispute his recollection. I respect Terry's efforts to serve Texas horsemen much more than I respect any mushroom smarmyness. I appreciate the work he does and the sacrifices that he makes that most of you whiners are not even aware of. I'm not going to get in a pissing contest with you over semantics, because it has become too damned trite for me to waste anymore time on it. There was no 60 day boutique meet in Texas, and that is an indisputable fact that has been belabored into silliness for fifteen months. Get over it and get productive before a meaningful door gets slammed on us.

What meaningful door is getting slammed on us? The legislature has been slamming the door on us for a decade because of the same BS as the vote that was not a vote crap! The TRC gave you folks many chances to represent the horsemen and you ignored them just as you have ignored the horsemen. Seldom do facts get in the way of the agenda, its all about slots and anything it would take to get it! Colateral damage to the industry, loss of 48% of the horsemen, racing opportunity, and the state is not problem. Create a crisis big enough to get the legislators attention! Keep the purses down, keep the race dates down, secret meetings, secret support for associations, secret funds from the membership.
It is my political opinion that the TTHBPA was created to be a weak pawn for the QH side of the HBPA and nothing said or done has shown anything to change that opinion. While the board says they can not negotiate; the QH folks are at the tracks to the last minute negotiating for a better positon for the QH dates and a weaker position for the TB dates. The TTHBPA has had over a year to change its by-laws and prepare to be active in the debates this year. Again, they did nothing! Again, if it were not for the TRC having the meeting with the horsemen at Retama and the trainers standing up for themselves and the industry we would not have got the extended schedule this year and better schedule next year! Next years race schedule is almost identical to the submissions to the TRC last year and none of those submissions were from the so-called horsemens associations representatives!!!!

Key, do you only drive your truck 48 miles/hr and fill up the gas tank 60%? What secret meetings? What secret funds and from what membership? You can't be this ignorant to believe it's the associations that are keeping the purses down? Do you know how to read the simulcast numbers? Can't you see that LSP's numbers are down almost 30%? Why is it so hard for you to post accurate info? What to you have to gain from continuing to post inaccurate statements?

Easy Doc. Loosen the belt and take a couple of deep breaths.
You were insistent that no vote was taken, now you say you didn't vote for a boutique meet. Not sure where you stand, but if you reread your post, it says "there was no vote", and you were pretty adamant about it. I thought this argument was long ago put to rest, but you seemed to want to revisit it again.
I never questioned Terry's integrity, commitment, or dedication. His name just happens to be in the transcripts with what I am sure is his honest and factual recollection of events. I know Terry pretty well, and your implication that I am questioning his work is an insult. I only questioned your memory. You have been very quick to cut and paste from transcripts, I would have thought you would have read this.
I have never thought of myself as a mushroom. Like you, I am someone with a significant investment in this industry in the breeding and racing side. I have stallion interests, board horses, etc. The 60 day meet would have been devastating, and the majority of members of the TTA that I represent were appalled after the initial meeting at Lone Star Park and the direction which plainly appeared to have the full support of the THP.
From day one I was very clear in my disdain for all the talk of a 60 day meet, and have fought, right or wrong on the merits of what I saw being best for the industry. In front of the commission and your board, and the ED of the TTA, on which board I sit, plainly laid out what I thought was wrong with the direction for owners, breeders, and ultimately the tracks.
Thankfully we diverted the crisis that was trying to be created. Something that we both agree on- I think.

So, I think now once again that we can agree that there was a meeting and that in the June and July meetings, the TTA and THP leaders were in agreement with the tracks on the 60 day meet. Lets leave this alone and move to the loose interpretation (my opinion) of the TTA's by-laws in getting nominee's on the ballot.

ADW's
It's my sincere belief that the tightening of the strings on the ADW platform, and clearing up the language for the TRC was an awesome idea, and that the Sunset legislation I fully supported, and thanked my Senator in person, via email, via telephone, and on here for his support, and stedfast commitment to this legislation.
The idea may not sound pleasing today, but I believe it was a good move. There will now be more interest, and attention to ADW's.
Here is my question....why would anyone be angry that an illegal act has been enforced as illegal?
We haven't been getting anything out of these ADW's up to this point that have or would've helped Texas or Texas Racing! So what is the complaint? It's not like I could be on Texas racing ANYWAY!! So, now I can't bet on Santa Anita, OK!
When this is done correctly, and addressed there will be a huge benefit for Texas Racing! Via Tax dollars, handle, purses, and breeders awards. This will help because it will be done right!
I have had the pleasure, or PAIN!
of being able to go several nights to Retama. I've been able to help the handle, see some friends, root for their horse, get beat out of some photos finishes, etc. I won't be able to do that at SHRP because it's too far away, and I can't bet online. I've never been able to bet online for Texas Racing, so I will continue with the same ole same ole....If i'm lucky I will be able to sneak to the simulcast betting site, and get into the action.
We can't complain about loosing something we never had! We never had the option of betting online on Texas Racing!
Last thing....Thanks Phil for posting the transcripts and getting the question answered.
I'm very proudly a mushroom, and I'll never stop!

Folks, hell has finally frozen over, Pickard won 3 races in 2011 and was spotted swaggering around the backside of Retama whining and complaining about the lost powers of the THP. As the only eligible fungi, why don't you run in the upcoming election so you can restore that power? I must be reading the wrong TRC transcript. I read where Haynes asked Joe two questions about his presentation so I don't see how that could be considered grilling him. Considering Joe's perjured TRC testimony in the past, I suggest you read other TRC transcripts. My political opinion

Considering the fact that you have yet to prove one point in your attacks, this comment makes you look desparate. Add to that hiding your identity just makes you look like an (Doc what would be a good term to describe gate's behavior)
How many races have you won?

Roger: thank you for the request for nominal elucidation here. The words that best describe G2W that fit the article "an" would be "Anonymous Contributor." It appears that you almost had it!
Also, off topic, congrats on your coinage and usage of the word "desparate," which is a useful combination of "desperate" and "disparate" with clever connotation! (G2W might not agree; we'll see what he has to say)
Also, to the question "how many races have you won?", the correct answer, whether by G2W, me, you, or the Aga Khan is always "not enough." Envious eyes outside every Winners' Circle corroborate this simple fact of horsemanship. Isn't it ironic that no how matter how many times you've been in that circle before, you'd rather be in it now? That, my friend, is what makes this expensive addictive beloved sport go round. That is why I love horses, and that is why I love you, a fellow horseman. When I go broke, I hope you will let me be in your winning photo one day; you are always welcome in mine.
P.S. I am not G2W. Whoever he is, he is more experienced in the horse business and more apt in observational skills than I.

Why do you let my typo's bother you? Gate was the one making light of Pickard's wins, gate has not shown me any knowledge of horses. You never have told me about your Special Rate. She took a great picture.

G2W#3 I am still trying to resolve the perjure issue in front of the TRC! The only testimony I have ever done in front of the TRC is over the race dates issue for dates for 2011! The dates proposed and the numbers used were checked and rechecked by a number of folks and they calender proposed is very similar to the other calenders submitted by the others that tesified. Again, there were no race calenders submitted by the associations, even though the commission requested them after every meeting. If you go back to the transcripts of the first meeting at LS, the commissioner held up my proposal and said this is the kind of input we are looking for.
I think Roger can verify that because he was at that meeting and made a statement on behalf of himself and other horsemen. Tinner and Bod Pickard were also at that meeting. If you would like me to cut and paste the response of the board members to the folks that were responding to the requests of the TRC, I am sure one of us can dig that up for you. It does include the infamous fourteen dollars that was owed by our man Theo and the race record of a poorly trained horse that is now a broodmare in our pasture.
I am sure that very soon all your questions will be answered in the press and we can all read about those events together!
