Ditto that

I suggest everyone

- chill a little
- have a mint julep,
- take a look at the foals in the fields
- forgive the offenders (most know not what they do)
- commit to doing their best to help the others on the board better their knowledge, participation or enjoyment of the sport

As one who stumbled onto this board a few years ago, it has served as a wonderful source of information and enjoyable opinion (not the same as info). So much so that I made a small re-entry into the business last year. Could I honestly refer someone new to the business to this board, as it is now?

Yes. It just means stepping back and sifting through. There's still much to be appreciated here. Yes, Lewis also makes some good and helpful observations too -

And oh by the way, the moderators are human - they make mistakes too.

peace to All - I'm hanging around

WHO is given a temporary time-out and/or is permanently banned is between that person and myself and, in some cases, the owners of the site. In my experience over the years on this forum, when someone publicly posts about someone else's removal, the purpose is to "rally the troops" and bring about an outpouring of support for the "victim" as well as harassment toward the moderator.

I am fully aware that ANY decision made regarding a volatile situation will make one side upset; there is no decision that is going to make EVERYONE happy. Let me assure you all that any decision to remove someone, temporarily or permanently, is NOT made quickly or taken lightly, is not made without offering MULTIPLE chances to correct rule-breaking behavior, and is not going to be reversed as a response to public posting.

However, I want to make this PERFECTLY clear:

Participation here is NOT based on how many horses you own or how much "knowledge," either popular or non-popular, you hold. It is based on one thing: FOLLOWING THE FORUM RULES.

Those who can post within forum rules are welcome, whether they have ever owned a horse or not. Those who consistently refuse to follow the forum rules, even after multiple warnings, are not going to be allowed to remain here forever and create havoc. That's just not fair to the other posters.

There is no special formula that allows the amount of perceived knowledge held by a person to offset the amount of purposeful rule-breaking that they are allowed to do without consequence. Those who refuse to alter their behavior after repeated warnings are disruptive and MUST be eventually dealt with, no matter how well liked they are or how helpful they've been or how knowledgeable they are.
