Well Jordan, looks like there's a lot of car washing and lawn mowing in your future!

Good luck with your filly!

I hope you didn't have to pay too much for the mare! Good luck with her and have fun (mowing all those lawns!) :D

Possibly against my better judgment, and at the risk of prolonging this thread when I should probably just ignore it, I'll ask this question.

Jordan, what would be the purpose of paying $2000 to register her? What it be to race her or to breed her?

How does the person who GAVE you the horse (that's FREE, folks) feel about you doing this with her?

And how do your parents feel about their child pan-handling?

Jordan, the $80 for DNA is only chargeable if you don't register the filly. If you register her, it is included in the $2000. Good luck with your fundraising efforts.

I remember PIE RISE when she sold at the Oregon sale. she was not in
foal, another mare that the same person bought was. I spoke to this person about Pie Rise later in the year, and I think she had the mares confused at that time. I will check my oregon catalog, but would bet that Pie Rise is not the dam.

Looking at the Oregon catalog for 2002, Pie Rise was listed as bred to Abstract, but NOT pregnant. I can confirm that, as I was intererested in Purchasing the mare.

Interesting...

Pie Rise is shown at the JC as having a live foal by Abstract in 2003, but when I spoke with the mare's owner she said Pie Rise didn't have a live foal. At one point she told me the mare was barren for 2003, then a bit later she told me the foal died. She also told me she "has a lot of horses," so I guess owning a herd brings some confusion with it. Could be she submitted the paper work on Pie Rise erroneously, only to catch the mistake later and that's why the registration was never completed.

Well, Jordan, it'll cost $80 to find out if your filly is a daughter of Pie Rise or not, and it'll probably be money well spent to know for sure. Just don't get your hopes up that Star is out of Pie Rise - the information filtering in doesn't make that possibility look promising.

I've got that catalog too and Pie Rise went through the ring as open with a last service date of 5/13/02. Were the consignors "hiding" the fact she was in foal??

At any rate, looking at the Pie Rise page I have to wonder what the fuss is all about.

In 2003, I spent $800 to buy my first mare who was in- foal to Abstract. That baby is at the track now and things are looking good.

There will be another sale in Oregon on Sept. 24th this year. For less than 2k, one can get a decent mare who is in foal with all the proper paperwork as well.

Ahhh, Michael, great suggestion, but there is one problem: it makes too much sense. Reason and logic have proven ineffective when dealing with Jordan. He will get this filly registered and she will be bred to Afleet Alex, so could you help him raise $2000 for that, please and thank you.
