I got one from turdburglar just after I looked up a pedigree. There was some video I did not open, but now all my drop down history in the address bar is deleted each time. I am VERY ANGRY!

Stupid question... why don't you guys just go into your profile and toggle the option that says "Notify on new Private Message" to NO :?:

End of problem.

Yes, good idea, but too late for my PC!
I haven't been visiting this forum too much, either, as I mostly contribute to another racing site.
Now I am paying.

Chalk me up for one of the CA Michael basher messages from Natedog. Nothing else besides that though.

I'm hoping that Roguelet doesn't find it necessary to permanently disable the pm feature. Over at the AQHA forum, the same porno poster who visited here caused the shutdown of that valuable forum. It's very sad that some people need attention that badly.

nancy, you are explaining how this poster works. She creates new forum names, often many at one time, year after year, for the sole purpose of exacting her revenge on me.

Why? Four years ago she invited me to her place to evaluate the conformation of her foals. I made the mistake of telling her exactly what I saw--offset knees, turn outs, straight shoulders, etc.--and immediately saw the glazed look of vengeance on her taut face. It's been downhill since then. From attempts at forcing me off the road, to complaining about me to business associates, to creating wild accusations, to spamming this and otherwise intelligent forums, winnie's obsession with my demise knows no bounds. Beware...she will return and deny it all!

God bless her.

Rokeby obviously doesn't appreciate words of wisdom when he gets them in a pm. Maybe I should pm someone more deserving.

Hello, everyone! Geesh, what a time for family to come in to town and keep me away! I have received TONS of emails and I currently see the note that I have 10 PMs which I haven't even read yet, but judging by all the emails I think I know what they will say...

First, for those of you who don't know, a PM can be "revoked" at any time before it is opened and read by the recipient. Therefore, it is possible to have someone send you a PM, then change their mind and "unsend" it, but you will still receive notice because it was "sent."

Second, although my email address is attached to the PM notification email sent from the PQ, it does not mean that I am the one who sent the PM... so I have no way to forward it to someone's email address, etc.

As for the Porn Spammers... they are impossible to keep up with. Some things have been tried, and I have asked for some tightened security and was told that the techies were looking into it. If you are in doubt regarding who sent you a PM, I would suggest checking out the person who sent it. You can look up a person's profile if you don't know who they are. If they just joined, or haven't posted, you can pretty much be assured that they are up to no good and can delete the PM.

Also, sometimes a spammer or troublemaker is "caught in the act" either while posting or PMing, or shortly thereafter. In this case that person can be banned/deleted/whatever, and a great number of PMs in their outbox can "go away" with them. For example, let's say someone sends a spam PM to 50 members but is caught and banned/deleted shortly after sending them. Let's say when they are banned/deleted, only 20 people have read the PM and the other 30 are still waiting to be read. When that person is done away with, those 30 unread PMs can also be done away with, and now there are 30 people with messages that they have a PM, but when they check their inbox, nothing is there.

Hopefully this explains a little bit about what is going on. If anyone PMed or Emailed me with other issues that need to be dealt with, please try again if you haven't heard from me in the next day or so... I've decided to post this instead of replying to the tons of emails separately just for my own personal convenience, and I don't want to inadvertantly miss someone who might need other help.

Thanks everyone...

rogue, I have a question about the Memberlist. There seems to be a lot of 'members' with their own websites who have never posted. This is especially true in the 500 or so most recent members. I didn't visit any of their pages but suspect they may be the porno posters. What's your take of all these names?

Hi Folks,

I think Michael is onto something. I went over the memberlist from most recent backwards and found (in less than 1 page):

Parishilton - porn
USGocernment - porn (redirect)
LovePamela - porn (redirect)
mikessy - porn
kiburius - porn

Bernadette Matthews no site

Douglass Hart - Cadaver? Weird
IFrame24 - site host
Tomy-londoner - redirects
poerkdownload - site host
Mellisa - sells pills
pvfmkysai - site hosting
crusclusters - sells pills

Moreover most of the entries list as their interests things like Internet trading, Cigarettes, etc. so it should be easy to cull quite a bit of the chaff.

Regards,

Pete

Hi Rougelet,

This guy http://tobaccowizard.com/ has multiple entries and at least 2 say Italy.

Is it possible to stop a registration based on the website entered or delete all that have the same offending site? This guy sells cigarettes and at least is upfront about it.

Yes, I got a single phantom private message.

Regards,

Pete
