Fort Erie Racetrack cancels live racing for 2009

Maureen, I figured as much, but one can dream. Those old guys can't hang around forever. After years of the track being stagnant you would think that if a new ownership were to take over they would want people running the show to be a little more innovative than $1 hot dogs for fathers day.

I'm very mixed on this proposal based on the very thing you say. New management would be required (and I don't know any of them), if the place isn't making any money now under their watch, why on earth would things change if they were left to continue to run the show?
On another note, I'm so sick and tired of the city, the mayor, etc always having these big announcement and press conferences on things that never materialize. I roll my eyes every time I hear a new one whether it was that first pipe dream announcement of a super compex - that was so far-fetched to the new nascaresque track. I'll believe it when I see it and I've yet to see anything of substance.
