Maureen, I figured as much, but one can dream. Those old guys can't hang around forever. After years of the track being stagnant you would think that if a new ownership were to take over they would want people running the show to be a little more innovative than $1 hot dogs for fathers day.

You're right, Ascot. A MAJOR housecleaning is required, but it is my understanding that existing management and the Economic Development Committee are quite buddy buddy. I hope the OLG and the Province (who still have to provide the money to do this) think very carefully about this proposal, and put numerous conditions in place.

I'm very mixed on this proposal based on the very thing you say. New management would be required (and I don't know any of them), if the place isn't making any money now under their watch, why on earth would things change if they were left to continue to run the show?

On another note, I'm so sick and tired of the city, the mayor, etc always having these big announcement and press conferences on things that never materialize. I roll my eyes every time I hear a new one whether it was that first pipe dream announcement of a super compex - that was so far-fetched to the new nascaresque track. I'll believe it when I see it and I've yet to see anything of substance.

Not sure of the validity, but from what I heard an hour or two ago was that the deadline has been extended until March 31st...Good luck on finding enough horses to fill a card 1 month later.
