reserve commission, I believe, is 2.5%

Yes - if the commission was enforced and there was no special treatment or pre-agreement.

It is rumored that sometimes people run their crop through the sale and run-up the price to establish a higher value for insurance purposes or for estate purposes. Of course, that is just the rumor mill ;).

There is also the advertising value - for the sire, its farm, the consignor, etc. I think, sometimes, those RNA fees might be split four or five ways..
