I can't get the the pairing though, just can't. Why on earth did they do that?

 They are looking for a sale topper at Keeneland, pure and simple.

I think we should have a betting pool to see who can guess what the foal will go for . . .

PS: I hope it's a filly

Wrong. The Storm Cat/Nureyev cross (meaning Storm Cat or one of his sons from a TAIL MALE Nureyev mare) has produced ONE G1W -- Var.

Neither Maid's Causeway nor Island Sand are from Nureyev line mares. Maid's Causeway is out of a Kingmambo mare and Island Sand is from a Forty Niner mare. Those are both Storm Cat/Mr. Prospector crosses, NOT Storm Cat/Nureyev crosses.

In all probability, there were as many Nureyev Genes in Sue's Last Dance (the dam of Island Sand) as there were Mr Prospector Genes in her.

When Sue's Last Dance was bred to Tabasco Cat, it resulted in Storm Cat Genes and Nureyev Genes getting "Crossed" with each other.

In all probability, there were more Nureyev Genes in Vallee Des Reves than there were Mr Prospector genes in her.

When Vallee Des Reves was bred to Giant's Causeway, it resulted in Storm Cat Genes and Nureyev Genes being "Crossed" with each other.

Exactly. Thats what irks me to no end. When someone asks advice on a mare breeding, invariably the first response will be " Are you breeding to race or to sell".

JUST BREED THE BEST D$%*& HORSE YOU CAN WITH YOUR RESOURCES!!

If everyone bred "good horses", then eventually the whole "breed to race OR SELL" would be a mute point.

That's a nice way to try and spin it, but it's still wrong to say those two horses came from the Storm Cat/Nureyev cross when they don't. I understand what you're saying, but for the guidelines set in my question those two do not qualify.

I'm feeling some serious love here.

How about we have a running pool on how much the yearling will go for and/or how big it will be.

How big in general are the get of Giant's Causeway? Talk general body type of the sire and conformation too if you can but how do his babies look up close?

And what about the character? The GC offspring sometimes can be a bit "strange" and many of Pivotal's sons are geldings.
Let's hope it's a filly!!!

I'm going to take a random stab and say it's a filly that sels for $900k because it has some slight conformational defects (thus not a million dollar baby). I predict that it will be bay with a skinny, lopsided little blaze and a white rear right sock. :) I predict that I will also be completely wrong!

I predict it will be a medium size foal, Chestnut with a strip, two left side stockings, and sell in for approximately 3 million. I'll be a colt!

I'll play

Filly. Matures to about 15.3, chestnut, star/snip combo, right fore and two hind socks. Sells for 750k and barely makes $80k racing winning only once.

Maybe it will enter, when they the product some 15.2 will race at friendly
european turf tracks. So without major faults she can make some 750k
if it,s a he I would not pay 200k for another gelding to come.

The foal will be a chestnut filly 16h, very colorful with a very distinct face.
She will sell in the $2MM range and be an excellent runner on the turf (and maybe dirt)and hopefully with her Mama's "finishing kick", and also hopefully without her Mama's demeanor.

I predict two scenarios for her racing career:

a. She runs twice in maiden races and never even comes close, retires

b. She wins a few and suddenly everyone is expecting the world of her, and she continually fails to provide the goods when it is most expected of her

Damn, I'm hopeful, aren't I?

BTW, what temperament problems does Megahertz have? I only know that she's sort and really fast.
