I also like HRTV Hosts; Camilla Ball, Carolyn Conley, & Becky Witzman. All are very knowlegeable and informative without having incessant mindless babble to fill every void of silence and talking through the start of the race (that's annoying).

Even the very vivacious, loquacious, dynamic & exciting & never repetitive Jon White (from, Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood - same guy right?) is O.K.

I'll agree with you on Becky. But she came up under Mandella didn't she? Class and knowledge abound in that barn.

A new form of torture to replace water boarding might be a show hosted by Frank Lyons and Nick Hines.

As long as I still get to undress Mike Joyce with my eyes I am happy!

Yes, she spent 6 plus years with Mandella, and she did a great job on the documentary "On The Muscle" where Redattore among other horses (Tin Man, etc.) were profiled.

She has hands on knowledge in dealing with the problems of keeping top class race horses running. It was amazing the job the Mandella barn did on Redattore despite his foot problems, to get him to perform so consistently at high levels.

Regarding the foot problems, this may be where we part company. I'm of the opinion that too many supplements and too much hot house treatment of these horses contributes to the bad feet. Just like the trainers in the other thread regarding GGF's surface and leaving for Washington, I tend to believe there are few trainers that really know how to keep the feet from getting bad in the first place. Can forgive Mandella as he had a barn full of top quality prima donna types (owners included), so missing that the horse (preferring turf to begin with) might have needed a bit more foot care might just have been a case of oversight. But once he caught it, Mandella absolutely did a great job with Redattore and many other of the older campaigners in his barn. That is the real testament to Mandella, IMO. The consistent number of horses who have long careers and retire to stud with stellar race records.

Bunty Lawless, I'm a little confused about what you are saying. If you are saying that it was Mandella's oversight that Redattore's feet got to a condition which required treatment, then I guess we do part company. :?

I kinda like the TVG gang, including the indomitable Nick Hines. Best handicapper of the bunch is Les Onaka who hit 8 in a row one night. Consistently cleans up at Los Al. Would be curious about his batting average at the big SC tracks.

Memo to TVG - HRTV

How about this to get the interest in your business up?

Swallow your corporate rivalries and do something for charity. Select your 5 best on air talent and have them pick a concensus WPS, exacta box, trifecta box. Stack them up against each other on an 8 race card they both televise( NYRA maybe). Let the fans 'invest' in the portfolio of each team (set up like a futures wager)and use a portion of payout for the jockey fund. Get their teams on set together and really go at it - maybe on a Friday or something.

watcha think?

did anyone see :58 flat today? They were ripping Matt left and right. Bordering on cruel. Hinting about his being let go because of the sale.
