well I am not ugly, fat or a female jockey trying to earn respect in a male dominated business. So I don't see the need to pose naked on a horse.

To each their own, but I posted on "her" facebook page I thought it reflected poorly on her.

You have a right to your opinion and I respect that. I don't see any difference in this shot than several others done, for example, on Vanity Fair. It's tasteful and she is beautiful, IMHO..

There was a time when that shot of Chantal would have been considered "art" - in fact nothing is revealed there that wouldn't show if she was wearing a bikini except for perhaps one or two strips of skin..

See for all you men out there, the issue is there there are others out there in the world such as jockey Rosie N ( whom I can not spell her last name correctly, even if I tried). It may be attractive but women are trying every single day to use their minds, their skills at work to become better, even just as good as the men. I have been there done that and we as many women posters object because there are so many other ways to accomplish a satisfying job well done and recognition with our clothes on.
And finally, there is WAY WAYYYYYY to many naked bodies on line and our there on T.V. and how are mother supposed to raise sons to respect a women when she is naked to get attention? And how are mothers who raise daughters explain this? How do we say," Go out there and show em your best without taking off your clothes?" No I say, use your skills that took you years to make and become the attention getter that way. Not with your clothes off.

Reminds me of the Danica Patrick thing in Indy Racing. It galled the male drivers that she got all the attention, but because there were people coming to see if she could win, it put money in everyone's pockets. The question I have is: What are the racing authorities doing to exploit this girl and put money in everybodys' pocket, including hers?

I defiantly understand where you are coming from.

there are a very few here who know about the issues i have with my mother, but my mother is an extremely beautiful woman who at age 46 still turns heads when she goes out. she also happens to have a masters degree and is quite intelligent. I've seen with my own two eyes the struggle my mother has to go through, trying to get ahead without dating men at work, using her figure or looks to get ahead in the work place or in the world in general, so when i say i sympathize with you i mean that from the bottom of my heart as much as i possibly could without being a female myself, I really do. I mean she she wants a man to appreciate her beauty if they are in a relationship or something but when she goes to work, work is work and she wants to be seen as someone who is damn good at their job.

With that said, let's take a step back here and look at the situation for what it is. Chantal's actions are not setting women back in the horse racing industry besides her actions. As long as there are men and men have sex drives, there will always be women who look to take advantage of that to the best of the ability. That's the nature of the world, to argue with that is to argue with nature

On one side, I honestly do respect her for being blatantly honest about her attributes and what she brings to the table. Just about but not all, of the posts here forgot one small thing; if she could attract the same attention on the race track, she probably would. she can't. this is her best card and she's playing it. I can't fault a person for that. I can't fault a person for doing what they feel is their very best to get ahead by using whatever cards they have at their disposal.

She's not Anna N. She isn't' that cut of rider. That's not a very fair comparison becuase frankly one of them is good and one really isn't. Chantal has looked at the situation and said you know, this is the best bet I have to garner some extra exposure right now and hopefully business will pick up. Does it mean I agree with her decision or praise It? no, but i can respect someone who has the wherewithal to be 100% honest about what they bring to the table and play that card.

Secondly, it has become taboo for people to like you because you are good looking. I understand that women do not want to be thought of as sex objects, in particular in a work setting, but being an attractive female and have people look at you and notice you because of your looks, is a hell of alot better than the alternative.

. It may be attractive but women are trying every single day to use their minds, their skills at work to become better, even just as good as the men. I
how does taking off her clothes make her not better or as thought of?

If antyhing you can say that Chantal is just making it a fair fight. There are some advantages that most male jockeys have that she won't in particular the stigma that female jockeys can't ride. She is using the attraction card that she has and that male jockeys do not have.

How do we say," Go out there and show em your best without taking off your clothes?"
The honest truth is that regardless of what you say, she will find out herself that society treats attractive people much differently than unattractive people. That might not be the most politically correct statement on earth but it's much closer to the truth then telling your daughter that how you look does not mean anything in the world and that if you are an attractive female you shoudl not use the looks that you were given to your advantage.

Mind you I am not defending what she did. But I am saying that becuase she did what she did, it does not set women or even her back in the eyes of society. Men were going to stare at her and pay her more attention rather she kept her clothes on or not.

I have a particular EX from a few years ago who is drop dead gorgeous. she wanted to be a news anchor. despite having pretty much a C avg through college, and despite not interning, she got the job of a local news anchor the day she walked across stage, how lol? by dating and then marrying the vice president of the station's son. There are many more talented than she is and she quite astutely used her looks to get where she wanted. But you know what the check still cashes the same on payday, got to hand it to her she did what she has to do to get what she wanted.

I'll stop right there. There is more to this but i could not say much more without offending people.

approve? no, would i have a problem with it? not really.

if she felt that was that is what she needed to do I would love her the same

truth be told we all at some point do things that our parents or loved ones wouldn't necessarily approve of rather it be taking off clothes or drug / alcohol abuse or promiscuous sexual behavior or not going to college, or whatever the case maybe. You have to let a person do what they have to do to get where they have to get in life.

Agreed.

I can't help but think of the difference between the humble and radiant winner of the Kentucky Oaks and.... this.

It cheapens everything.

HRTV was interviewing Emma Jayne Wilson on race day America and Joanne Jones told EJW "I want to applaud you for not wearing pink and smiling and giggling all the time and standing on your own merit". I thought that was pretty telling and a shot at Chantal. i don't think she cares very much for Chantal lol
