If he gets there this year. Between his feet earlier in the year and now his lungs, one wonders if some time off might be a good idea.
With any luck, Dollase will sit on him for the Swaps. No reason to run in the Preakness and if it's not cleared up by then, he REALLY should sit out the Belmont. There's more races in the fall and I doubt Giacomo will win another leg so the 3yo title is up for grab. I just don't see a dual classic winner this year so the title isn't going to be given away in the spring like it has been lately.

If it were just about speed, they wouldn't have to run against each other. Just everyone take a run at the same distance and compare the time. It's about positional strategy and riding and other things that actual speed doesn't always address. And those things become apparent when there are more horses on the track. Let's give credit where it's due. It was a fine piece of strategy and some great implementation of that strategy. Let's face it...it takes more than a fast horse to win any race.
[quote="louis finochio"]After I check all the Derby horses for the most and fewest crosses of (Phalaris) I picked Giacomo for my Belmont secletion. His Derby win didnt surprise me as I have been waiting for a distance race for Giacomo to show vast improvement.

I guess that kind of screwed up potential odds for your Belmont pick. nothing like getting on a hrose too early or too late.

Well, I hope no one lost their house on this one!
I think I heard Jorge screaming all the way out here in Vegas.
Ah memories!!
