I'll leave that up to morons like you

Isn't that against the rules of the forum, name calling? What are you, two?

I would be nice if they culled you from posting. You have nothing to say but hot air.

I am an outsider to thoroughbred racing, not to horses, not to animals. Just throughbred racing. Unpleasant, offensive people like you give everyone in your industry a bad name.

It's an interesting point of view to say the least but I'm going to have to disagree for a particular reason. I was not around for that, was still in HS actually, but I believe this is the thing they were talking about in the book stud with the grass.

Anyway, there is a main difference between the 2001 issue and what we have no. That issue being, that while the number of foals were drastically reduced, demand for those foals, had not reduced. If anything it was getting stronger. The economy was freaking fantastic. We were popping out new Internet millionaires like octomom was popping out babies. People were looking to spend money which helped drive the demand. For the people who had yearling's, you had a perfect storm of less competition, and more people with more money. I imagine those had to be great times if you had foals for sale.

This time however it is very different. The number of foals are being reduced, but so are the people who are buying. People aren't looking to get in people are looking to get out. People are having dispersal sales,a nd the people who are in, aren't looking to spend as much.

That is a very valid point in re. the economy. I still see a rise in demand with lowered numbers available. This is a bountiful time for the breed to race crowd who can afford a few more mares.

The biggest complaint I ever hear from owners is their horses not being able to run enough. Many maiden races and turf races reliably overfill. Less stock in a few years will mean shorter fields and the racing owners will be wanting horses to run. These owners generally look to yearlings as a last resort, but I believe they will wind up looking htere. 2 yr olds ready to run will be forgiven many imperfections at the sales.
