We had a wonderful show! I posted the updates on the auction post, but will put them here. We raised over $12,600.00 for LOPE! That took all of us by surprise! Last year we raised $5,000.00 and thought that was fantastic! Thank to anyone here who bid, donated, spread the word, and works to help these wonderful animals in anyway.

We had a fantastic day! Almost 100 horses and 398 class entries!

Have any of you heard anything about the rumor that Sqaw Creek won its law suit and will now apply for dates? This rumor was going around LS yesterday.

First, congratulations to LOPE! Give us an early head up next year, and we will try to double the numbers again. You do such wonderful work.

Roger, keep us informed about what you hear. There was nothing in the latest TTA report, but it should be a matter of public record somewhere.

Also, any news or rumors on the negotiations between the horsemen's group and Lone Star?

Hello Everyone! I know some of you thought that I fell off the side of the world when the forum went down, but the honest truth is that I haven't had anytime to write!

I was promoted and have felt the pain of being the boss! My work load has gone thru the roof!

I miss everyone, but have just been so very very busy!

All is well with the horse world, 5 out of 6 of my mares are in foal, I have 3 happy healthy growing sucklings, and my yearling abbie filly has me walking around on cloud 9!

We've got no rain in Bastrop Co. so there is no grass, which means that since late April I've been feeding Hay!

Gonna be a tough year, then you throw the gas in there, the increases in the feed, and you then start to better understand why you can't give some of your horses away!!!

I am on the grassroots and the blue jean committee's and looking forward to having an exciting fall election season. Hopefully all of our pie in the sky dreams will come true.

I read all of the post that were on here, and found it very interesting. Don't ask me who, but someone talked about the ACCT Wagering thing, and if makes me crazy that we aren't jumping up and down about getting that ball rolling!

In someways, the TRC, the board, and the TTA are 8-track Tapes in their thinking, and don't realize we live in the IPOD world!

Extremely aggrivating!

U can get a boy/girlfriend online in TEXAS
U can get medical advise online in TEXAS
U can pay ALL your bills online in TEXAs
hell U can even order your groceries online in TEXAS!

SO WHY IN THE HELLO CAN'T I BET ON A DANG RACE IN TEXAS???????? There isn't a logical explination for it!

Someone else wrote about the IRM's and attracting larger crowds to the tracks, I agree with that too! We need to get hot on this stuff!

Race dates!

OH....Plan B.....PRAY!!! I think some of us get it, but we unfortunately don't have alot of power! I will fight til the death for us to get all that we can and we need, but it's sure as heck is an uphill journey. I will support the Grassroots effort 10000% I will work my little fat chocolate cover hips off to see the vlt legislation, and/or anything else that will help the horsemen. But it's an uphill journey! I think that the voters will approve it especially with the good for texas provisions, and I sincerely think if, and I stress IF we can get it on the Ballot, will pass! However we have such a short sighted list of wants and desires for the breeders, and such. Yes, the breedback rule is never going away! If I breed any mares next year 1 of the 3 will be bred out of state.

I can't get any money for by TxbyTX, maybe i'll have a little more luck with at TxbyFL!! I'm only breeding 3 next year, and that may go down to 2 with fuel, feed, and the money our foals are bringing. Mare care, stud fees, vets, so forth and so on. I don't know!

I have the chance to get 2 more nice mares for next year, and I don't know if I'm going to do it. Both winners, winners of multiple races, and both are by Stallions who stand for 20,000-50,000. I don't know if I can afford to have them given to me for free!! LOL

OK, starting to sound negative, but I'm so honest with myself! It's going to be tough for us!

I'm glad to be back, and hopefully I'll keep more in touch now.

Theo Scales

OH, the L O P E thing was so very nice!! I went there, it felt good to see so many horses, and people and to see the TTA had a table there and explaing to people what we are trying to do. Handing out stallion books, TTA magazines and other things! I'm not surprised that they raised so much money, there was a larger crowd there than the one at Manor Downs the last time I was there!

It was hot as the blue blazes, but it was nice. The L O P E gang actually just live about 3 or 4 miles from me, so I'll be seeing them alot!

Be Blessed!

Theo, its great to hear from you and congratulations on your promotion. Hey guys, I've found something that you we'e talked about before. You can go to www.brisnet.com/cgi-bin/breview.cgi and get a whole different veiw of stallions and broodmare sires. We've talked about finding out who the better Texas based BMS's were and they are here, but you have to look for them.

First, glad to see that you found us Theo. Keep in touch. We are still missing a lot of the old gang. Your comments about the internet made me laugh out loud. For a state that wants to think of itself as a high tech center, it is tragic that we are so far behind the times. Still no real sharing of new or views about the standoff over purses at Lone Star.

Roger, thanks for the link. I remember asking the TTA about a listing of Texas broodmare sires and being told that it was not possible. This is at least a start. I am surprised that Irish Open is not on there?

We are about to hit a record for high temperatures in June, and no rain in sight. It looks like it might be a tough summer. I guess we should be grateful that we are not under water, like other parts of the country, but still..... their problems are going to run up feed prices, and if we are feeding hay in June, it doesn't look good.

Keep the faith.

Bedouwia -

IRISH OPEN is listed but you have to choose the right sort - try Selecting on Texas after you select for the Region that includes TX and LA - then sort under General by Alph - he's # 17 by earnings amongst all TX stallions. He shows up elsewhere under different sorting options.

Roger - Great Link!!

The first Stallion Stakes races for the 2006 crop are coming soon. The lists are out and everyone needs to check for accuracy, for example my filly that I sold is still listed in my name. Contact Jennifer Gibbs if you need to make any updates.

I have not been able to find out about Scrappy Roo. He ran such a wonderful race that night in Houston, and I hate to think that anything bad has happened to him.

Bill B, thanks so very much for the update on Scrappy Roo. You have made my day and lightened my heart. For many of us, Scrappy is our local hero and he has a real fan base in Texas. I wish him well and know that Dave will take great care of him.

Many of the horses that I follow are running tonight at Lone Star. I sure miss the HRTV coverage. May they all run well and come home safely. I have been reading about the recent conference with state lawmakers in California where they have been discussing the future of online betting. I wish that some of our Texas legislators would pay attention. Were we represented there at all?
