This discussion got me to start looking at pedigrees and it is really sad to see how some of the old lines have been lost. In going back and seeing where everything began I was wondering if Thoroughbreds can be bred back to an Arabian. Also seeing as how Standardbreds came from and excellent line of Thoroughbreds can that be bred back???

Hi Lisa,
to my knowledge you cannot breed TB's to Arabians or Standardbreds - which would only slow them down anyway.
On the odd occasion, the Studbook gets opened up for horses, which can beat good TB's in "Match Races" (one on one). I don't know what the criteria is, for such races to be arranged, but you should be able to find out from your country's Studbook.

I found a couple of rare stallions standing in New Mexico.

FLYING DRONE (1992, Full Choke) from the Man O'War line but not through Intentionally. His last foal seems to be from 2000.

MASTER ROBERY (1984, Dock Robbery), from Hyperion through Swaps line still siring foals as of 2004.

MOUDIX BLEU(1993, Just a Tab) Mamoud through The Axe 3 mares bred 3 reported back infoal 2 foals 67% NM 2005.

TOOT'N TUDOR (1982, Tudor Grey) Hyperion through Owen Tudor 1 mares bred 1 reported back infoal 1 foals 100% NM 2005.

He is descended from Castrel (bypassing The Tetrarch). Although he is advertised as a sport horse stallion (as were his sire and grandsire), he is a thoroughbred.

This pedigree was incorrect. Meadow Blush is out of the mare Blushing Sheshe, not her paternal grandma My Prayer. It's fixed now.

Weatherbys requires 8 generations of uninterrupted crosses back to TBs from the non-TB ancestor to be admitted into the Studbook. Plus, as you say, the horse(s) in questions needs to display superior performance on the track. The latter would of course be impossible in some places like the US, where non-TBs are not allowed to race against TBs (except in mixed breed races out west, but those are usually at very short distances like 4f and under).

Lucasland and So Blessed both were top sprinters in England in the 60's, both won the July Cup. They were they main reasion that their dam, Lavant, and her descendants, were admitted into the General Studbook because of their superior performance on the track.
