Wanting to keep under $7,500 fee and looking to breed for the market. This filly is at the track now, and has some early foot. Dam has all winners from starters, with one that has won over 200k.

Any suggestions? She is in Texas, but we would trailer her for right match.

I don't have the pedigree expertise of many, but at first glance of the Texas stallions I like the hypo with Tinners Way. This son of Secretariat would give you Victoria Park top and bottom (Canadian Horse of the Year, 2nd Preakness, 3rd Kentucky Derby, numerous other stakes wins and NTRs at two different tracks). Also you'd get Nasrullah through Bold Ruler on the top and Nashua on the bottom. There's also Princequillo at least once on the top, and twice on the bottom through three different individuals (Somethingroyal, Hill Prince, Cherokee Rose). The Northern Dancer in Tinners Way's dam's pedigree may also work well with the Mr. Prospector in Miss Metropolitan's sire's line.

I also noticed Miss Metropolitan has a Count Fleet linebreeding through grandsons Lucky Debonair and Fleet Host. I'm not that familiar with the Count Fleet line to know if there are particular crosses that would work well with this, but that might be another consideration.

I doubt fit to fight or tinners way would get you a sales horse. You may get a good race horse out of them but I doubt you will get your stud fee plus expenses back selling the offspring as a yearling.

Since you want to stay under 7.5, valid expectations is not a option. I would look at Hadif and Open forum.

I prefer the KY stallions over the TX stallions given the price range.

Is he still standing in TX? I seem to recall reading that he's always knocking around the top sires list down there. Just my personal bias, but I love, love this guy's pedigree. Might be a nice outcross for your filly.
Anytime you can add Ribot and Deputy Minister into a DNA pool, that's a beautiful stamina thing.

I'm afraid Successful Appeal's going to be well out of the stud fee range elvis is looking at. A shame; this is a nice cross on paper. Matty G looks like a possibility -- some very nice deep line breeding to *Nasrullah, supported by his relatives *Mahmoud and *Royal Charger -- but I don't know if Matty G will also be taking a bump up next year. He might be a good choice if the filly is a pretty, feminine type that could use some bone, not so hot if she's a big coarse girl since he has the so-called "Capote mule" look.

I concur with John. Your filly has made less than $10,000 and her half sister made over $240,000 with You & I as the sire. Seems like a no brainer to me since You & I fits your budget.

Sticking to your 7,500 stud fee, I would recommend Gold Legend. I love the cross with your mare. What do others think about this cross? I have Gold Legend listed as a great breed to race stallion. I do not believe he is going to have much market appeal but I think for 7,500 you are really limited with your commercial appeal. I would suspect that the real value of the foal will be tied to its confirmational attributes. If it is a very good looking foal it will sell well, if it doesn't look or walk good then it probably will not bring a lot of money, but I still think that is a better outcome than having spent a lot more money on the stud fee. The filly's pedigree just isn't strong enough to have a lot of market appeal, regardless of the stud you go to, the foals value will rest heavily on its confirmation. Just my thoughts. I look forward to hearing any opinions on my comments.
