CONGRATS Roguelet !

Postby charle » Thu Jan 18, 2007 11:35 am

The Hokies have beat both Duke & N. C. in the last 10 days !

I'm that fanatic sports nut from Clemson who invited you on a

tour of Aiken Farms & track last yr. if you came down to see

Hokies v. Clemson. Nicking thoughts :

I am booked to breed Wanton Woman to AROUSE in Camden.

He is magnificant looking ( Apache Farm.net ) & looks

exactly as Orpen by Lure in IRE (Coolmore ), who it looks has

done fairly well. I know you have opinions on "unraced" studs,

and I know that has to be for my race purposes... I would appreciate

yours and everyones opinion on the nicks. Does anyone know LURE'S

history ?
I promise to be a valuable contributor to this

forum.....

i could answer this by showing you Lure's two breeder's cup tapes. If you're breeding to a Lure stallion (unknown to me there were any), you'd find these very interesting. Lure was a great race horse who was infertile as a stallion.
was he by danzig? seems so.

GO HOKIES!

Doin' the Hokie Pokie!

I don't know anything at all about that particular stallion you're talking about, but I do have a big problem with people who assume unsoundness in an unraced horse. I hate assumptions, period. There are so many reasons why a prefectly sound stallion (or mare) could be unraced or lightly raced, and so many people want to always assume the worst.

I guess this stallion you're asking about is unraced? Do you know the stallion's history? I need to go look him up and see what I can come up with... but to be honest, I'm one of the last people on here that you want to be asking about nicks or pedigree matches. I usually know what I personally like in a pedigree, but sometimes I'm not even too sure about that!

Lure:

From Wikipedia:

Lure (b. 1989) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse. Bred and owned by Claiborne Farm in Paris, Kentucky, he is a son of the leading stallion Danzig who in turn was sired by Hall of Fame and most prominent sire, Northern Dancer. He was out of the mare Endear by another Hall of Famer, Alysheba.

Lure is best known as the turf racing specialist who won back-to-back Breeders' Cup Mile races at Gulfstream Park in 1992 and at Santa Anita Park in 1993. After winning three graded stakes races in 1994, Lure returned to again compete in the Breeders' Cup Mile but finished ninth. He was then retired to stand at stud at Claiborne Farm and in 2004 was pensioned due to poor fertility.

Arouse's female family includes Hansel, a dual classic winner (but not a well-regarded sire), Anet (who has sired a grade I winner since his passing), Canadian champions Cryptocloser and Ten Gold Pots, Puerto Rican champ Shake Shake Shake, and recent SW Ready's Gal.

(A bit on the female fam here: http://www.stallions.com.au/newsv2/view ... =2008&CID=)

Arouse IS a gorgeous stallion, though. ;)
