seems every year about this time, someone idiot goes around messing with the pedigrees of horses on the derby trail. I know it's happened at least once, and probably more than once.
Perhaps the administrator could simply freeze the pedigree stuff for a certain period till after the TC series is over? Or he or she could simply freeze the ability to add/delete pedigree info. for horses that are in the derby?
For sure, a few weeks from now someone is going to once again notice that Ketchikan's records or (insert favorite derby horse here) records have been messed up.
No doubt some insane dosage person hoping to make a killing on derby day, but still...
Seems to happen every year.
Here's a suggestion...

The actual pedigrees can be locked, which would mean no-one but a member of the research group can edit it. If there are particular horses you're concerned about, PM me and I'll lock them.
The additional information, however, can not be locked, and will no doubt be defiled on a regular basis.
Be prepared.

Why doesn't the owner of the board set it up so information cannot be messed with? Seems simple enough. Seems like the blame is being placed in the wrong direction.
I know alot of people who will not use this sight for accurate information. Why not just fix the problem and save people so much work and have the website be used for what it was meant to be used for?

Seems a shame because it seems like every year some ahole comes and messes up the thing. Maybe it wasnt every year but I distinctly remember one triple crown run, probably Smarty JOnes, when like anyone trying to find out info on the runners was finding totally messed up info...
Why cant just derby runners be locked down for the next 3 months? Why is that so hard to do??
In particular, I dont care, I mean I dont have any particular horse that I need to see, but others really do care..

I'm laying in a fresh supply of lager.
We can't even get them to enter the stakes information the same way or to STOP putting those damned "As of xx/xx/xxxx" dates in the earnings cell. Seriously, is it REALLY that hard to figure out, especially if it's ALREADY done for the day. I gave up dealing with it. I got tired of updating a horse after a stake only to have some jackass come along a couple hours later and delete/rewrite everything. I'd fix it the next day and within 12 hours, it would be screwed up again. I've too much to do to try and out-stubborn some jerk without a clue.
Never mind those bullshit "Rest in peace sweet baby" comments that show up after a horse dies.

I owned a mare that I looked up just for fun. I already knew all of her (accurate) info. Her pedigree on this website had the correct year of birth, but was wrong on every horse in the pedigree. I figured it was just an input error of some kind. I changed the sire and dam to the correct ones, and shazam! everything was accurate after that. So I appreciated being able to correct the error myself, and I was kind of amazed that the website let me do that. Why is it always the decent people that have to have convenience taken away from them because of sheninigans by social misfits?
I suspect the owner of this website set it up as he would like to be treated himself. That's customer service!
