HELP -- Texas Fasig-Tipton Sale on Sunday

Postby marknickolas » Thu Dec 09, 2004 8:59 am

This is last minute, but a couple of barren broodmares are of interest to me that are being offered at the Fasig-Tipton Texas sale which should sell cheap (similar quality last year went for $1-$3 k), compared to what I'd pay for them here in KY.

Anyone have an agent and/or vet that might be available on short notice to bid and ship to KY on my behalf? I've acquired a number of seasons to some KY stallions for this season (Lost Soldier, Barkerville, Dayjur, Pikepass) which I'd hate to let go unused. I suspect similar barren broodmare offerings at the upcoming Keeneland and Ocala sales will be at more of a premium.

Thanks, Mark

Just call the auction company... and give them the list of mares... they will call you as the bid is going down... and you can join in the bid... and can also connect you with haulers that are already on the sale site.

Also... they usually have streaming video of their sales... and you can bid online...
even with wireless broadband... there can be pauses at the most inappropriate times... so phone is best while viewing the streaming video... but must make phone bid plans in advance for approval purposes...

texas...

Texas' is right, but if something goes awry, or if you wish to actually have someone act more as agent (and possibly take a quick look at mare prior to buying her). Try calling Bill Hardin at Millenium Farm (there in Kentucky). They have a few in the sale. I don't know if he is going, but he may be able to help. I don't know him that well, but from what I know, and hear, he is a pretty good guy. Additionally, some of those selling may end up coming back, so they may be able to help you out with shipping.

Good luck!
