Working vacations on Kentucky farm?

Postby crazy canuck » Mon Jul 23, 2007 7:25 am

I'm wondering if anyone knows if any tb farms in Kentucky have people come for short working vacations? I know it happens in some other horse disciplines.

Can you handle a weed wacker and riding lawnmower? Do you know how to fix broken sprinklers? Do you know the difference between a weed and a flower? Can you operate a hoe? Can you put a fly mask on a mare that likes to play tag? Do you know the difference between picking up just the piles vs cleaning a stall+pen? The job pays $10 hr and a tourist visa is probably better than a non existant green card that most workers have out here......6 dogs,3 geese, 2 chickens, 2 horses and Six Flags Magic Mountain is 20 miles away.

Jellac, thank you! That is a totally COOL website.....Hey, some of us could sign up to be hosts and charge $799 per person for a 2-day stay and let people come scoop poop, apply fly spray, bathe horses and muck stalls. Hell, all we'd have to feed them is lunch, and explain the business. Seems like a deal to me! :D

All kidding aside, it really did give me some food for thought.......I'm really wanting to get out from behind this desk 9-5 M-F, and a country-inn type bed and breakfast is sure something I could get into. <wistful sigh>
