Need Advice

Postby Pashi » Sun Aug 12, 2007 5:17 pm

I posted this in another subject but didn't get much of a response, thank you to the person who did respond. I would really like to know about this pedigree, how good is it. My intention is to breed to non-TB's but I am courious how she would do in the TB world, if it would be worth it or not.
Hope to get some replies, thank you. :?

Well, every market is different and perhaps someone from Florida could respond. At first impression, this mare is not going to make a very commercial broodmare in the Thoroughbred market. Often you can do better in the sport horse market if she is a mare that has some substance and good confirmation. Just my opinion.

I would concur that her value is in her indiviual conformation, personality or abilities rather than pure bloodline. Stallion as son of Forty Niner is not real special, but could get something decent. I personally like Turn To Mars line but I see very little in the female family close up, which is my top consideration.

I would say no without seeing her catalog page. Unless she and her dam produced a lot of winners and/or have some good black type she is not likely to produce much and probably won't make babies that will sell well. If she is a nice hunter type (or whatever) I'd probably stick to WB or stock types. If her conformation isn't really good I'd not breed her at all.
