They're putting up a fight. :D Is there anything we can do if we're not from the area? The effort alone deserves a standing ovation. I sure hope they get it done. Let's have their backs if we can find a way to do it.

Please post if there is anything (short of supplying wheelbarrows full of cash) that can be done. It would be beyond a terrible shame if this historical fixture in South Florida were allowed to dismantled and forgotten.

Sorry to bump up this thread, I don't have an update. But if you ever want to depress yourself, go look at Hialeah on Google Earth. The main track is all over grown. I sure hope there's a white knight out there for the track, it was such so beautiful in its heyday.

I just depressed myself.

I grew up not far the track...as a matter of fact saw Seattle Slew start his 3 yr old season there. Was the first racetrack I had ever been to.

Its not looking good....what a shame. One of the most beautiful tracks ever built.

Yep, pretty sad with the track overgrown and the infield lake a nice shade of green. Hope they can save that jewel of racing...

Looks like Hialeah might have a savior in Halsey Minor, founder of CNet. Stressing "might" but it's got some folks out there excited, including the guy that currently has his grubby paws on the property, Brunetti. Minor seems not a huge fan of casino-track combos. What does everybody think about the newest prospect for a revival and what's gonna go down with the racing dates situation? Gulfstream seems to be garnering not thrilling reactions nowadays. Maybe Hialeah could eventually host the Breeders' Cup. Can you imagine the party that would go down?

Even if it were to be turned into primarily a training facility with very limited racing dates, that would be a quite an accomplishment at this point.

I'd hate to see developers get their hands on it and turn it into a bunch of big box stores.
