I have a friend who has Violette Jolie and she is bred to an appaloosa. She is by Jolie's Halo and out of Creme de Violette by Vindaloo. There are some decent runners in her pedigree by so so stallions. Her tail female family traces back to Ace Card. I know she ran in some allowance races at Philadelphia Park. I just wanted to know if anyone knew more about her. I know she was a hard knocking mare and she is for sale.

This mare looks like she was a decent runner. No black-type under her first dam, unfortunately, but her second dam was a stakes winner (in Ohio-bred company) and produced a black-type-placed runner as well. Below is a link to a 2005 catalog page for the family.

Bruisen Susan
Her half sister Bruisen Susan was 3rd in the Manhattan Beach S. at Hollywood Park last year. Not much black type but was there much opportunity when bred to the likes of Unite, Proudest Romeo and so on. Her second dam was mainly bred to Vindaloo and was also bred to Local Talent, L'Enjoeur once and also to Petionville once. I do like Jolie's Halo as a broodmare sire. She supposedly retired sound at age 9.

They are doing good
Hi!!
They are doing good. Having a difficult time selling horses but that's nothing new. Have a few appaloosas for sale. I still have White Wedding and her half sister Jane's Sweetheart is selling at Ocala tommorow. I did not breed any mares this past year because I already have too many horses. Horses sure took a beating at the Saratoga open yearling sale. I would ideally like to get down to a half dozen horses. Wedding is quite the character and very talkative. She is not bashful by no means. She loves attention and has quited down alot since being away from the track. As far as breeding I think breeding good racemares is a better way to go than breeding horses that have a good pedigree. It is good to have a little bit of both. I still have my El Prado mare and I have debated whether I am going to sell her or not. As far as breeding to sell I think it is a tough of game but breeding to race the way to go.
